Vice President Biden to speak to National League of Cities
NASHVILLE (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to travel to Nashville on Thursday to deliver a speech to the National League of Cities.
Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker, the league's president, said in a release that the group was eager to hear from Biden's thoughts on "issues that matter most to cities."
The event is billed as the largest gathering of local elected officials and staff in the country.
President Barack Obama addressed the league in Washington in March, calling on employers, educational institutions and local governments to develop a homegrown high technology workforce.
Biden last visit to Tennessee came in August, when he gave an emotional speech at a ceremony in remembrance of four Marines and a sailor who were killed in attacks at two military facilities in Chattanooga.
