Holocaust conference being held this week in Murfreesboro
MURFREESBORO (AP) — Middle Tennessee State University says scholars from around the world are expected this week for the 12th biennial Holocaust Studies Conference at the university in Murfreesboro.
The conference will examine the deaths of millions of Jews and others by Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime in pursuit of a "master race" in the 1930s and 1940s.
Among the speakers scheduled are UCLA history professor emeritus Richard Hovannisian, North Carolina history professor emeritus Gerhard Weinberg and Sonja Dubois, who was orphaned at the age of 2 when her parents were taken from their home in the Netherlands to a concentration camp.
The conference begins Wednesday and runs through Friday.
