Hyde

Sean Henry is entering his sixth season as the president and chief operating officer and alternate governor of the Nashville Predators and Bridgestone Arena.

Andrea Hyde, CEO of Draper James, the new retail brand founded by Reese Witherspoon.

Prior to joining Draper James, Hyde was president of Burch Creative Capital. She incubated various brands for the venture firm, including Poppin and Trademark.

Before that she was the CEO of French Connection and Nicole Farhi for eight years.

Hyde has also held management positions at Kenneth Cole and Gap Inc.

McFarland

She started her career at Estée Lauder and worked at Calvin Klein.

Gullett Sanford Robinson & Martin adds attorney

The law firm of Gullett Sanford Robinson & Martin PLLC has welcomed attorney M. Thomas McFarland to the firm.

McFarland will practice in the firm’s litigation section as an associate. He previously served as judicial clerk for Judge Thomas W. Brothers, Davidson County 6th Circuit Court.

McFarland earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2014 and his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee in 2011.

Deane | Smith’s Smith is now owner, CEO

Deane | Smith, a public relations, marketing, advertising and branding agency based in Nashville, has announced a new ownership agreement with Todd Smith, a co-founder and president of the firm, acquiring the agency from Silas Deane, co-founder and CEO.

Under the agreement, terms of which were not disclosed, Smith will take on the additional title of CEO to position the firm for future growth.

Deane will transition to senior partner of the firm, giving him flexibility to pursue entrepreneurial ventures such as VendEngine, a software company he launched in 2013. It was recently recognized as one of the fastest-growing companies in Middle Tennessee. Deane will continue to provide senior level counsel and leadership for Deane | Smith.

Formerly known as Logic Media Group, the agency was founded by Deane in 1999 during the dot-com boom and has maintained a strong technology, health care and entrepreneurial focus.

Smith has more than 25 years of experience, and specializes in public affairs, government relations, branding, crisis communications, media relations, marketing, advertising and reputation management.

A former staff writer for The Washington Times and speech writer for the George H.W. Bush for President campaign, Smith previously served on the executive team of Affinion Group, a global direct marketer, and has held senior public relations, marketing and advertising positions with HCA and Gaylord Entertainment Co. Smith began his agency career at Atkinson Public Relations, where he was a leader in creating the Nashville Health Care Council.

Deane has created numerous brands, including the Baden Bath line of bath fixtures and VendEngine, his current software venture. He has led senior level communications and media strategies for clients such as HCA, Hutton Hotel, National Foundation for Cancer Research, John Templeton Foundation and the TriStar Health System.

Deane was also the press secretary and legislative advisor to U.S. Rep. Bob Clement in Washington, D.C., and managed various financial and political operations for Senator and Vice President Al Gore, Jr. He also served as the executive director for the International Microelectronics Society, where he was executive editor for Advancing Microelectronics. He holds a master’s in government and business administration (MGBA) from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Kentucky. He also attended The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Hunt

Also, Laura Hunt has been named an account executive for Deane | Smith.

Hunt previously worked in Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam’s administration as an assistant, managing internal communications including e-mail, letters, honorary recognition and verbal correspondence with constituents, as well as assisting with the governor’s schedule and coordinating events.

A Maryville native, Hunt earned a degree in public relations from The University of Tennessee in 2013.

Tennessee Health Care Hall announces inaugural class

The Tennessee Health Care Hall of Fame has announced its inaugural induction class of eight, which will be inducted Oct. 12 at Belmont University’s Curb Event Center.

With a mission to honor men and women who have made significant and lasting contributions to the health and health care industry, the Hall of Fame seeks to recognize and honor the pioneers and current leaders that have formed Tennessee’s health and health care community and encourage future generations of health care professionals.

Crossley selected to run Centerstone Military

Centerstone, a nonprofit provider of behavioral health care, has appointed retired Col. Kent Crossley as executive director of Centerstone Military Services.

In this role, Crossley, a 30-year veteran of the United States Army, will oversee programming, operations, business development and fundraising activities related to services for military and veteran families.

In addition to Centerstone’s outpatient offices located in Florida, Illinois, Indiana and Tennessee, the organization regularly taps into its national provider network of more than 500 therapists to reach military and veteran families close to home. Centerstone has established a variety of specialized programs and services to meet needs including combat stress, trauma, homelessness, depression, addiction, marriage issues, parent-child relationship repair, and other invisible wounds of war.

Crossley joins Centerstone following a military career that includes extensive overseas peacekeeping and nation-building missions during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and in Europe.

A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Army War College, Crossley has served in multiple command and leadership positions, most recently as commander of the 364th Civil Affairs Brigade.
