Prominent educator, author to speak at TSU on Tuesday

NASHVILLE (AP) — A prominent educator and author known for engaging educators in dialogue about improving schools for urban children will speak at Tennessee State University in Nashville on Tuesday.

Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings will be a guest of the College of Education's Department of Educational Leadership.

More than 200 educators are expected to hear her talk about what she calls "education debt" and race theory relative to current education policy during two lectures.

The first discussion will be in the Executive Dining Room at noon on the main campus, and the other will be at 5:30 on the Avon Williams Campus downtown.

Ladson-Billings, a pedagogical theorist and teacher educator, is on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education. She is also a researcher at the Wisconsin Center for Education Research.
