After a wobble, US stocks manage to post moderate gains
NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are ending moderately higher after overcoming a few early stumbles.
Energy stocks didn't join the advance and fell along with the price of oil.
U.S. crude sank 3 percent Friday after Goldman Sachs said a global glut of oil could push prices as low as $20 a barrel.
The Dow Jones industrial average gained 102 points, or 0.6 percent, to close at 16,433.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index increased eight points, or 0.5 percent, to 1,961.
The Nasdaq composite climbed 26 points, or 0.5 percent, to 4,822.
Bond prices rose. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note fell to 2.19 percent.
