NASHVILLE (AP) - The Department of Revenue is offering free tax workshops this month to new businesses in five Tennessee cities.

The workshops are designed to assist those encountering business-related taxes for the first time. Tax specialists from various local and state agencies will provide the basic information needed to comply with registration and tax requirements.

Areas of discussion will include business tax, sales and use tax, and tax enforcement procedures.

The workshops will be held in Chattanooga and Nashville on Sept. 9; Johnson City and Memphis on Sept. 10; and in Knoxville on Sept. 16.
