Bill Hagerty, co-founder and managing director of private equity investment firm Hagerty Peterson & Company, has been elected to the Pinnacle Financial Partners’ 14-member board of directors.

Hagerty recently served in Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam’s cabinet as the state’s commissioner of economic development. During his tenure he was also responsible for the Tennessee Film, Entertainment and Music Commission.

Hagerty began his career with global consultancy The Boston Consulting Group and then served on the White House Domestic Policy Staff as chief economist for the President’s Council on Competitiveness.

Following his service on the White House staff, Hagerty joined Trident Capital and launched his career in private equity. He has successfully invested in a broad range of industries including financial services, health care and technology. He served as member and chair of the Regional Selection Panel for the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships (Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations). Hagerty also was vice chairman of the board of Columbia Hospital for Women, a nationally recognized not-for-profit women’s hospital in the District of Columbia.

A native of Tennessee, Hagerty earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and juris doctor degree from Vanderbilt University.

Banking veteran McKay joins Fifth Third Bank

McKay

Mickey McKay has been named senior vice president and commercial line of business executive for the for Fifth Third Bank’s Tennessee affiliate.

McKay has more than 35 years of experience in commercial credit, leveraged finance, global corporate and investment banking, with 12 years in the Nashville market. He was most recently with Bank of America, where he served as senior vice president and enterprise commercial credit risk executive in Charlotte.

McKay earned his undergraduate degree in commerce with a concentration is philosophy from Washington & Lee University. ·

White House honors TSU alum Durley

Durley

Tennessee State University graduate and civil rights advocate, Dr. Gerald L. Durley, has been recognized by President Barack Obama as a “Champions of Change.” Durley, former pastor of Atlanta’s Providence Missionary Baptist Church, who seeks to combine faith, science and civil rights, was among 12 people of faith recognized by the White House Monday for their efforts in fighting climate change.

The Champions of Change program was created as an opportunity for the White House to feature individuals doing extraordinary things to empower and inspire members of their communities.

As a 1964 TSU graduate, former SGA president and former captain of the basketball team, Durley sees a parallel between faith and science and the lessons he learned as a civil rights advocate of the 1960s. He argues climate change, global warming and environmental justice are moral imperatives and civil rights issues.

Durley is a former dean at Clark Atlanta University and the former director of the Health Promotion Resource Center of the Morehouse School of Medicine.

Thomas Nelson names VP of marketing

Aulisio

Thomas Nelson has promoted Michael Aulisio to vice president of marketing for gift books. Aulisio joined Thomas Nelson in October 2010 as director of marketing.

Aulisio has led marketing campaigns for popular gift books, including the #1 bestseller Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, Every Day in His Presence by Charles Stanley, Hope for Each Day by Billy Graham, Savor by Shauna Niequist, and 5 Minutes with Jesus by Sheila Walsh.

Before joining Thomas Nelson, Aulisio worked for The United Methodist Publishing House. He also worked at Vanderbilt University as coordinator of alumni relations.

Aulisio earned degree in marketing from the University of Scranton and an MBA from Lipscomb University.

NCVC announcees new board of directors

The Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp has announced three new additions to its board of directors: Jana Davis, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs of HCA, Stuart McWhorter, president and CEO of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center, and Dan Piotrowski, general manager of Omni Nashville Hotel.

Ken Levitan, president of Vector Management, will continue to serve as chairman of the NCVC board of directors for the 2015-16 fiscal year. Beth Seigenthaler Courtney, chairman and CEO of Seigenthaler Public Relations, will serve as chair-elect.

Davis joined HCA in 1997 as vice president of corporate communications and marketing, a position she held until her recent appointment in February 2011. She joined HCA from Burson-Marsteller, where she was a managing director for crisis and served as corporate practice chair for Latin American operations. Davis also held a number of Public Affairs positions in the George H.W. Bush and Reagan Administrations.

As co-founder, McWhorter served as chairman and president of Clayton Associates prior to his appointment as CEO of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center. Prior to Clayton Associates, McWhorter was part of the founding management team of OrthoLink Physicians Corporation and served in various management positions with Tenet Healthcare-owned Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, AL.

A veteran of Omni Hotels & Resorts for more than a decade, Piotrowski joined the opening team of the Omni Nashville Hotel in 2012 after serving as general manager for several Omni properties.

Beagle honored by Latino real estate group

Debra Beagle, managing broker with The Ashton Real Estate Group of RE/MAX Elite, has received the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals® Top 250 Latino Agent Award. Beagle ranks No. 1 in Tennessee and No. 138 in the U.S.

The award recognizes the nation’s most successful agents based on their residential real estate transactions. Recipients of the award are also selected for their unique stories of personal triumph, ability to overcome adversity, and devotion to their trade. Beagle is one of nearly 50,000 Latinos currently working as real estate professionals in the U.S.

Beagle participated earlier this year in the 2015 National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals® Housing Policy Summit in Washington DC.

League of Women Voters names Molly Todd winner

The League of Women Voters of Nashville, a local nonprofit organization encouraging informed and active participation of citizens in government, has named Jo Singer the recipient of its highest honor, the Molly Todd Award for leadership in public policy and advocacy initiatives.

Singer has been a member of the League of Women Voters for 30 years, serving in leadership in many chapters, including as president of the Nashville League and co-president of the Tennessee League. She also pioneered rehabilitation protocols for Parkinson’s patients at the Methodist Hospital in Houston and is a licensed physical therapist with 40 years of experience in health care.

Todd came to Nashville in the 1940s and mobilized support for public policy issues including racial integration, birth control and the formation of a family service agency to racial integration. Under her leadership, the League of Women Voters Nashville chapter was reestablished, published the city’s first brochure on voter education, worked to abolish the poll tax and engaged in efforts to consolidate city and county government services.

The League established the award in 1995. Past recipients of the Molly Todd Award are Diane DiIanni, Barbara Devaney, Pat Post, Sue Bredensteiner, Karen Weeks, Margie Parsley, Karen Edwards, Phil Schoggen, Mary Frances Lyle, Marian Ott, Berdelle Campbell, Dikkie Schoggen, JoAnn Bennett, Silvine Hudson, Brenda Wynn, Susan Gutow, Silvine Hudson, Sally Levine, Carole Bucy and Jane Eskind.

Crain Construction promotes 3 team members

Three members of the Crain Construction, Inc. executive team have been promoted. Mark Rankin is now executive vice president, while Mike Gribble and Frank Wilk have been named vice president of operations.

Rankin joined his father and brother in the family business at Crain Construction in 1998 and has served in a variety of positions in 17 years, most recently as vice president of pre-construction.

Gribble is a 17-year veteran of Crain Construction and as vice president of operations he helps customers feel comfortable in the construction experience while advising them during the process.

Wilk has worked with Crain Construction for 19 years. He currently oversees construction on the Aertson Midtown project, a $100-million, mixed-use development.

Prior to this promotion, Gribble and Wilk were both senior project managers.

Dowdle Construction hires project manager

Campbell

Dowdle Construction Group has added Franklin native David Campbell an assistant project manager to manage current projects.

Campbell previously was a project engineer with Bell & Associates Construction in Brentwood. He is a 2009 graduate of the concrete industry management program at MTSU.
