Nashville Pride Festival

A two-day event celebrating the LGBT community. The festival features musical entertainment on two stages, more than 125 vendors in the artists’ village, food and plenty of surprises. 11th Avenue Complete Street Ribbon-Cutting

An Open Streets Parade and family-friendly activities highlight the city’s first-ever Open Streets Nashville event, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in The Gulch. Open Streets Nashville is hosted by the Mayor’s Office in partnership with Walk Bike Nashville. To kick off the event, Mayor Dean will host a ribbon-cutting celebration of the 11th Avenue Complete Street, followed immediately by an Open Streets Parade for all event attendees. The event is free and open to the public. Activities include:

  • Free, mini CrossFit Gulch classes at the new fitness stations under the Church Street Bridge
  • Short complimentary classes showcasing the wide variety of fitness classes Metro Parks instructors offer year-round
  • Two performances of The Frog Prince at 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. by Nashville Public Library’s popular Puppet Truck
  • Free bike rental stations for event attendees to use during the event by Nashville B-Cycle
  • Unicycle exhibit hosted by Green Fleet Bicycle Shop
  • Bike repair stand by Halcyon Bike Shop
  • Guest appearance by Nashville Sounds’ mascot Booster
  • Juggling and break dancing performances by Playing By Air
  • Sidewalk activities and specials from Gulch businesses
  • Live music stage featuring performances by The Shy, Lynn Taylor & the Barflies, and Supershaker

Open Streets events open stretches of city streets to people and close them to cars, encouraging participation in physical activity and healthy recreation. Metro Transit Authority will also offer free bus rides from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to anyone attending the festival. Information: www.openstreetsnashville.org.

Nashville Predators Craft Beer Festival

Join the Nashville Predators for craft brews, food, games and entertainment. More than 60 breweries will serve up some of their finest libations. Plus, enjoy special appearances from Nashville Predators personalities. General admission includes entry into the beer festival, a souvenir glass, unlimited tastings and a voucher for an Upper Bowl ticket to a Monday - Thursday Predators pre-season or regular season home game in September or October (excludes opening night). VIP tickets include an exclusive tasting area with food and special craft beers, among other perks. Free Symphony Concert

The Nashville Symphony's final free community concert of 2015 is set for Lafayette's Key Park (7 p.m.). Featuring works by Brahms, Bernstein, Sibelius, Copland, Gershwin and more, the community concerts deliver classical favorites in a casual setting at local parks. All performances are free (except where noted) and will be conducted by Nashville Symphony Assistant Conductor Vinay Parameswaran. Attendees are invited to share their experience on social media and be entered to win a special prize from the Nashville Symphony and Griffin Technology. To enter, shoot a photo at a community concert and post to Instagram using the tags @nashvillesymphony and #NSOsummer. Winners will be announced the day after each concert. Sunset Concert Series at Carnton Plantation

The Battle of Franklin Trust’s annual Sunset Concert Series, a family-friendly, summer tradition providing monthly outdoor concerts on the east lawn of Carnton Plantation, kicks off with Resurrection, Journey Tribute Band. Other dates and acts include:

  • Sunday, July 26: Classic 70’s Pop Rock by Vinyl Radio
  • Sunday, August 30: Eagles Tribute Band: 7 Bridges Band

Admission is $10 in advance or $12 at the event, and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. Children 5 years old or younger may attend free of charge. All concerts will take place from 6-8 p.m., and wrist bands will be issued for re-entry. Attendees are encouraged to arrive when the gates open at 4:30 p.m. Guests are welcome to bring chairs, blankets and picnics, including alcohol. Additional food and libations will be available for purchase from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams and Puckett’s Grocery. Pets, tents and grills are not permitted.
