Kachnic to chair VUMC Radiation Oncology
Kachnic
Vanderbilt University Medical Center announces that Lisa Kachnic, M.D., has been named professor and chair of the Vanderbilt Department of Radiation Oncology.
Previously, she was professor and chair of Radiation Oncology and associate director of Multidisciplinary Cancer Research at Boston University School of Medicine and chief of Radiation Oncology at Boston Medical Center.
As the new chair, Kachnic will be responsible for overseeing a department known for oncology services at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, scientific discovery and educating leaders, along with its residency program that trains academic clinicians and physician scientists as well as the nation’s first accredited medical physics professional doctorate program.

She will join the faculty on Sept. 21.
In addition, Richard Peek, M.D., director of the Vanderbilt Digestive Disease Research Center, has been appointed to a five-year term as editor-in-chief of Gastroenterology, the flagship journal of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and premier journal in gastrointestinal and liver diseases. His term begins in July 2016.
George C. Hill, Ph.D., professor of Medical Education and Administration, emeritus, was recently named the 2015
Student National Medical Association Hall of Heroes recipient.
Hill was inducted into the Hall of Heroes during the 51st annual Medical Education Conference for his work championing the cause for a diverse physician workforce as well as making a significant impact on supporting current and future SNMA members.
Rescue Mission CEO to head association
Glenn Cranfield, CEO of Nashville Rescue Mission, has been named president of the Mideast District of Association of Gospel Rescue Missions.

Cranfield has served Nashville Rescue Mission since 2012. Before his arrival in Nashville, he was President/CEO of City Rescue Mission in Oklahoma City.
Under his leadership, City Rescue Mission went from providing the basics of food, clothing, and shelter to adding a dental clinic, medical services, job placement help, drug addiction, and mental health counseling services.
Cranfield led City Rescue Mission until 2006 before returning to the ministry.
The Mideast district includes Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Cranfield will serve a three-year term.
Fifty Forward honors Buchanan as tutor
Neal Buchanan, a tutor in the Friends Learning in Pairs (FLIP) program of FiftyForward, is the recipient of the Flora McKean Award for excellence in tutoring this year.
He has been a tutor at Pennington Elementary for 14 years, working with students in kindergarten through fourth grade to improve their reading skills.
The award is given annually in memory of educator Flora Elizabeth McKean. It was established in 1997 by her nephew Scott McKean to honor tutors in the FLIP program “in recognition of their outstanding dedication to tutoring and mentoring.”
Buchanan is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and received his graduate degree from the Peabody College of Education at Vanderbilt.
He has been a life-long educator, from being a classroom teacher and principal, to being a part of a federal program in Tennessee and North Carolina that researched emotionally disturbed children.
He was appointed by Tennessee Governor Buford Ellington as the first director of the Tennessee Office of Child Development in 1970 and held that position for seven years before becoming an editor at the Baptist Sunday School Board (now Lifeway) where he worked for 23 years, until his retirement.
Brentwood Services adds Chapman
Brentwood Services Administrators Inc. has named Randy Chapman as vice president of sales, according to Jeff Pettus, president and chief executive officer of BSA.

Chapman is an insurance industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience in third party administrator management, business development, sales and excess insurance placement.
A graduate of Clemson University with a B.S. in administrative management, occupational safety and health, Chapman holds property and casualty, life, and accident and health licenses in numerous states.
He has actively participated in the Risk Management Insurance Society, American Society of Safety Engineers and the Public Risk and Insurance Management Association. For almost 10 years, he participated in the Midwest Employers Casualty Company “Platinum Producers Roundtable,” the company’s highest designation, and was the only member of its Agents’ Advisory Council in the Carolinas.
He received the “Distinguished Sales Award” from Sales and Marketing International and earned the DSM-II designation from Psychological Associates.
Polsinelli names Peterson as shareholder
John Peterson will join Polsinelli as a shareholder in its national commercial litigation practice. Peterson will be working at the newly opened Nashville office along with health care attorneys Robert P. Dempsey and Bobby Guy, who launched the office last month.

He is licensed in Tennessee and California, and has appeared before federal and state courts throughout the country. He is also a certified Rule 31 mediator in the state of Tennessee.
He earned his law degree from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.

KraftCPAs PLLC has announced that Lucy R. Carter, CPA, will join the firm as a member beginning July 1.
Carter is currently a partner in Carter, Lankford, CPAs. Sara Lankford, CPA, will retire at the end of June.
Carter will practice in Kraft’s entrepreneurial services group and as a member of the firm’s healthcare industry team.
All of the Carter Lankford employees will join KraftCPAs, bringing the firm’s total number of employees to approximately 180.

Frost Brown Todd has hired associate attorney Nathan S. Harris in its Nashville office.
Harris joins the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions practice group and will serve clients in a wide variety of corporate and transactional matters. Harris was previously at Ernst & Young, where he advised large public and private companies in various industries such as healthcare, manufacturing and retail on federal, state and local tax consequences of complex transactions and internal reorganizations. He has also assisted companies with negotiating and securing economic incentives in different jurisdictions. Harris earned his J.D. at the University of Kentucky College of Law. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from UK.

Clayton Weber has joined Pinnacle Financial Partners’ information technology area as director of information security.
Danny Hester and Patsy Dahlgren are new members of the company’s residential construction lending team. They are based at the firm’s Mallory Lane office in Cool Springs.
Weber brings 20 years of experience and comes from Southeast Financial Credit Union, where he was a risk officer.

Hester, with 32 years of financial services experience, is a senior vice president and financial advisor. Previously, he was with Regions Bank, where he was the Tennessee market manager for its home-builder finance division.
Hester earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Belmont College. He is a member of the Middle Tennessee Homebuilders Association and is a licensed Tennessee contractor and past owner of Hester Building Group.
Dahlgren has 45 years of financial services experience and is a financial advisor assistant. Past roles included serving as an administrative assistant and paralender for Regions Bank, administrative assistant in Metropolitan Federal’s commercial and construction lending division and teller in First American National Bank’s commercial loan operations area.
LBMC taps Drummonds as managing partner
LBMC, an accounting and business consulting firm serving the Southeast, has named Jeffery S. Drummonds as its new managing partner.

He succeeded previous co-managing partners Mike Cain and David Morgan on June 1.
Cain and Morgan helped form the then Certified Public Accountant (CPA) firm of LBMC, PC in 1984.
Drummonds, a CPA, is a 14-year veteran of the firm. Prior to being named managing partner, he last served as the partner leading the firm’s tax services.
Previous to LBMC, Drummonds was a tax partner with a national accounting firm. He has extensive experience in delivering value-added tax services to clients with an emphasis on the healthcare industry.
Over the course of his 29-year career, he has managed tax services for over twenty public companies and has been involved with numerous private equity transactions and SEC filings.
Cain and Morgan will continue to play key roles in the firm.
Fifth Third names two vice presidents
Fifth Third announces two additions to its Private Bank division.
Heather Boyet is vice president and senior trust officer, and Steve Martin is vice president and wealth management advisor.
Boyet comes to Fifth Third from Regions Bank’s Private Wealth Management division, where she served as a trust advisor for more than 13 years. Boyet has 18 years of experience in the financial services industry. She received her bachelor of business administration degree in finance from Austin Peay State University and her MBA in finance from Belmont University.
She is a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA), ABA National Graduate Trust School and Institute of Certified Bankers (ICB) member.
Martin comes to Fifth Third from Wells Fargo Private Bank, where he most recently served as senior wealth planning strategist and was the market’s primary financial planning resource. Martin has 19 years of experience in the financial services industry.
He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Indiana University, his Juris Doctor (JD) from Indiana University School of Law and his L.L.M. in Taxation from Capital University School of Law.
