Nashville airport to conduct full-scale emergency drill
NASHVILLE (AP) - Nashville International Airport is conducting a full-scale emergency drill this weekend simulating two airplanes colliding on the runway.
More than 100 volunteers will act as victims on Saturday morning in the scenario that will also include smoke and explosions.
Airport officials want to spread word among the public and travelers that the aircraft, vehicles and other equipment will be participating in a drill and not an actual emergency.
The Federal Aviation Administration requires full-scale emergency exercises every three years. The drill will test the effectiveness of response plans by airport officials and participating federal, state and local agencies.
