NASHVILLE (AP) — Singer-songwriters Loretta Lynn and B.B. King and novelist Cormac McCarthy are among the winners of the 2015 Governor's Arts Awards.
According to the Tennessee Arts Commission, Lynn, King and McCarthy are recipients of the Distinguished Artist Award. That award is presented to Tennessee artists "of exceptional talent and creativity" who have influenced the arts on a state and national level.
Gospel artist Dr. Bobby Jones and opera singer Mary Costa are also winners this year.
The Folklife Heritage Award honors achievements within art forms "rooted in the traditional or ethnic cultures of Tennessee." Winners this year are whittler and woodworker Bill Henry and handmade broom maker Jack Martin.
Winners will be honored at a ceremony at the governor's mansion on March 17.
