Bass, Berry & Sims adds public finance attorney
Grice
Charles “Chuck” A. Grice has been hired to the Public Finance team of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC.
Grice has more than 30 years of experience representing banks, underwriters and issuers in tax-exempt bond deals and transactions to finance capital projects for nonprofit organizations across the Southeast. Grice most recently was an attorney with Stites & Harbison PLLC in its Nashville office.
In addition to his experience in the public finance industry, Grice also has experience representing lenders in a range of secured lending and syndicated loan transactions.
Grice graduated with an LL.M. in taxation from Emory University (1982), a J.D. from Samford University Cumberland School of Law (1980) and a B.A. from Vanderbilt University (1974).
Legal Aid attorney elected board chair
Waller
DarKenya Waller, managing attorney of Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands’ Nashville office, has been elected chairman of the board of directors for the Nashville Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Waller has been an advocate for domestic violence victims in the community through her work at Legal Aid Society since moving to Nashville in 2008. She has also been involved with the NCADV and provided additional advocacy with her service on the Tennessee State Domestic Violence Coordinating Council.
As chairman of the board of directors, Waller will further execute the NCADV’s three-fold mission of raising awareness, strengthening services and addressing systemic problems with a cohesive voice.
Waller will be serving with of Robin Kimbrough, who was named chair/president of the NCADV, and Diane Lance, co-chair.
MADD Tennessee launches advisory board

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) of Tennessee has assembled an inaugural state advisory board to engage communities across Tennessee in promoting safe driving and sound decision making.
The board’s 16 initial members include community and business leaders, government officials, members of law enforcement, researchers, and victims of impaired driving:

New is asstistant commissioner for rural development
New
Tennessee Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd has named Amy New as the department’s first assistant commissioner for rural development.
New has served since 2012 as director of the department’s primary community development program, ThreeStar, which focuses on five areas critical to ensuring the success of Tennessee communities: Jobs & Economic Development, Fiscal Strength & Efficient Government, Public Safety, Education & Workforce Development, and Health & Welfare.
Boyd said New would lead a new division within TNECD that reorganizes all community programs under her leadership. The move will allow the department to put a greater emphasis on assisting rural communities.
A native of Monterey, New worked at both the county government and chamber level, was a Business Profiles host with WCTE-TV and an account executive with MMA Creative prior to her work with TNECD.
Jody Sliger has been hired as the new ThreeStar director.
Sliger was most recently the interim president and tourism and marketing director of the Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce. She previously was a journalist in the Upper Cumberland region, including as lifestyles editor of The Expositer newspaper in Sparta.
LBMC adds Crouch to tax services team

LBMC, PC, one of the Southeast’s largest accounting and business consulting firms, has added John Crouch within the tax services team.
Crouch serves as a senior tax accountant with the LBMC tax services team. Crouch has experience with multi-national corporations and partnerships in the financial services industry. Prior to LBMC, Crouch worked with KPMG’s International tax group.
Originally from Washington, IN, he earned his MBA and Masters of Taxation from Fordham Graduate School of Business.

Dr. Amin received his medical degree from Indiana University in Indianapolis, IN. He then completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM and his hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC.
