Farmers can learn about marketing products at 'boot camps'
SPRING HILL (AP) — Growers who want to participate in farmers markets can learn more about what it takes at six Farmers Market Boot Camp Workshops, including Clarksville and Franklin, this month in Tennessee.
Specialists from the University of Tennessee Extension, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Risk Management Agency will teach the workshops.
Topics include food safety regulations, liability risk, meat sales guidelines and more.
Cost is $20, including lunch. Space is limited; register at least five days in advance.
The workshops will be held Feb. 16 in Cookeville, Feb. 17 in Alcoa, Feb. 18 in Greeneville, Feb. 24 in Covington, Feb. 25 in Clarksville and Feb. 26 in Franklin. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. local time with sessions running from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
