Print | Front Page | Email this story

VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) — Vicksburg's River Region Medical Center and five other hospitals and 36 affiliated clinics purchased a year ago by Franklin-based Community Health Systems have formed Merit Health.

The new signs were going up this week at the medical facilities.

Jana Fuss, a spokeswoman for Central Mississippi Medical Center, which becomes Merit Health Central in the new arrangement, tells The Vicksburg Post (http://bit.ly/1veJLC9) that ownership of the hospitals and related clinics remains the same. She says no changes in services are planned for now.

River Oaks Hospital and Woman's Hospital in Flowood, Crossgates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon and Madison River Oaks Medical Center in Canton also will put up Merit Health signs.

Officials with Community Health Systems say events will be held Feb. 9 to formally announce the changes.
