Fire destroys historic Nashville chapel
NASHVILLE (AP) — An overnight fire has gutted a historic chapel at a Nashville cemetery.
Media report firefighters were called Sunday evening to the blaze at the Mount Olivet Funeral Home and Cemetery. Crews had a difficult time fighting the blaze because the chapel is located on a narrow, winding road with no fire hydrants nearby. High flames made the fire visible from a distance.
Fire officials say the building wasn't being used, though it was being preserved for historic reasons. The structure was built in the late 1800s or early 1900s.
Crews remained at the scene early Monday as they began investigating the cause of the fire.
