NASHVILLE (AP) — Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee said it provided employment services and job training to 28,159 people and helped 9,558 land jobs in 2014, far exceeding its goals for the year.

Goodwill said Thursday it aimed to assist 20,000 people and to place 6,000 in jobs and met those goals in September. This year, the agency hopes to work with 30,000 people and place 10,000 in jobs.

Nearly 90 percent of Goodwill's clients who find jobs are placed with other employers. It sells donated clothing and household goods in its stores to fund its mission of providing employment and training opportunities to people with disabilities and others who have trouble finding and keeping jobs.

The not-for-profit agency employs more than 2,000 people and serves 48 counties in Middle and West Tennessee.
