NASHVILLE (AP) — The bitterly cold temperatures have led several school districts in Tennessee to cancel or delay classes.

Media reported several districts in Middle and East Tennessee were closed Thursday or running on a delayed scheduled.

Meanwhile, about 800 customers of Memphis Light, Gas and Water were without power.

Temperatures were in the single digits around much of the state Thursday morning. The forecast calls for highs to reach around 20 degrees in much of the state.

In Nashville, Tennessee, single-digit temperatures didn't stop mourners from lining up outside the Grand Ole Opry House nearly an hour before the doors opened for the funeral of Little Jimmy Dickens.

Larry Hurst came from Kansas City, Missouri, and was wearing only a suit jacket with no overcoat. He said he was used to the cold.
