NASHVILLE (AP) — Tennessee State Parks will kick off New Year's Day with free hikes.

Park officials say each state park will host its own special hike in the first few days of the New Year.

The First Hikes begin at 10 p.m. on Dec. 31 at Radnor Lake State Park. Henry Horton, Harrison Bay, Tims Ford, Norris Dam and Pickett state parks will host midnight hikes. The First Hikes will continue throughout New Year's Day with morning, afternoon and evening hikes.

Officials say the hikes are designed for all ages and abilities. Some hikes will be approximately one mile in length and tailored for novice hikers, while others are lengthier and geared toward more experienced hikers.
