NASHVILLE (AP) - A $38 million computer system that had been in the works for the Department of Human Services might be scrapped.

The system under design was supposed to determine Medicaid eligibility, but it has been bogged down with delays and design defects. It was supposed to be operational more than a year ago and is still not complete.

WPLN (http://bit.ly/1BwerjH) reports scrapping the system is one of three options under consideration by TennCare, which could also try to salvage some of the work that's been done on the system.

The agency spent $1 million to hire consulting firm KPMG to recommend a course of action. They hope to reach a decision by the end of the year.
