Franklin road reopens where tanker truck burned
FRANKLIN (AP) — Construction of a new bridge has been completed over Interstate 65 south of Nashville where a tanker truck exploded and caught fire three months ago.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation says the exit has been reopened to traffic at State Road 248 in Williamson County. Two lanes and a center turn lane were opened Tuesday.
The truck driver was killed in the crash Aug. 15 at Franklin.
Commissioner John Schroer said demolishing two bridges and building a new one in 102 days is a record for the agency.
TDOT said crews will continue working on the interchange, which is being modified as part of a $46 million project to widen I-65 from State Road 248 to State Road 840. The project is expected to be finished by June 2016.
