Ex-Vandy player's lawyer raises allegations

NASHVILLE (AP) — An attorney for a former Vanderbilt University football player charged with raping a fellow student suggested in court that two other former players committed similar acts but are not being prosecuted.

Defense attorney Albert Perez Jr. raised the allegation during a Thursday hearing.

Perez later told reporters he believes Jaborian "Tip" McKenzie and Brandon Banks were involved in sexual conduct with "drunk underage females" on June 22, 2013.

Perez's client, Brandon Vandenburg, is accused of rape the next day.

McKenzie and Banks are also charged in that case. Perez suggested the two were offered a deal to testify against Vandenburg and aren't being prosecuted.

He says McKenzie and Banks first testified that Vandenburg was not involved in the June 23 rape but later changed their testimony.

An attorney for McKenzie declined to comment, and Banks' attorney did not immediately return calls.
