CLARKSVILLE (AP) — A company that proposed a multibillion dollar polysilicon plant in Tennessee has donated 833 acres of land to Montgomery County.

Hemlock Semiconductor's decision expands the industrial park inventory of Clarksville-Montgomery County northward to near the Tennessee-Kentucky state line.

Mike Evans, who oversees industrial development for the county, told The Leaf-Chronicle (http://leafne.ws/1qznlCc ) the donation shouldn't be seen as a sign that Hemlock's currently mothballed plant is off the table.

Evans says the donation gives the county direct access to an R.J. Corman railroad spur, plus the full complement of other infrastructure already in place that will make the site a major enticement for big business.

Evans said some undisclosed industrial prospects are already showing an interest in the new land inventory.
