Citizen Action hires back former director Mancini
NASHVILLE (AP) — Tennessee Citizen Action has hired back its former executive director Mary Mancini to run a new get-out-the-vote effort.
Mancini, who had left the advocacy group to make a bid for the state Senate, will serve as program director for the voting campaign. The effort funded by a grant from the New Venture Fund and the Women's Equality Center aims to increase turnout among infrequent voters and promote civic engagement.
Nashville attorney Jeff Yarbro last month defeated Mancini for the Democratic nomination for the seat held by longtime state Sen. Douglas Henry, who is retiring this year.
Citizen Action advocates for improved access to civil justice, affordable health care, safe working and living conditions and a better environment.
