Lanquist named fellow of American Bar Foundation

Edward D. Lanquist Jr., managing shareholder at Waddey Patterson, has been selected as a fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
Established in 1955, the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation is an honorary organization of attorneys, judges, legal scholars and law faculty who have been elected by their peers to become members. Members have demonstrated outstanding achievements in and dedication to their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession.
Lanquist focuses his practice on patent and trademark litigation, intellectual property counseling, and trademark prosecution. He earned his J.D. with honors from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1988 and a B.S. in civil engineering with honors from the University of Tennessee in 1985.
A Registered Patent Attorney, Lanquist is a member of the Nashville Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association, serving on the intellectual property committee.
Veteran marketer Wait creates new agency

Nashville marketing veteran Audra Wait has launched Wait & Co., a marketing agency focused on communications strategy and creative design.
The firm already counts a half-dozen local and regional clients on its roster in industries that include health care, technology, retail, non-profits and start-ups. Wait & Co. is offering branding, strategic planning, creative, advertising, media relations services and social media, as well as website design and development.
Wait most recently served as principal for business development for Noble Sidekick, a Nashville marketing agency. She’s also been an account supervisor for Gish Sherwood & Friends (GS&F), corporate marketing specialist for Cogent Healthcare and director of client relations for Deane, Smith & Partners when it was known as Logic Media Group.
Clients with whom she previously worked include Healthcare Management Systems (HMS), PivotHealth, Informatics Corp. of America, ReDoc Software, Amplion Clinical Communications, the Nashville Predators and the National Foundation for Cancer Research.

Leadership Franklin’s Magid wins Cross Award

Leadership Franklin has announced Emily Magid as this year’s recipient of the Caroline J. Cross Award.
The award was established to honor Cross, who began Leadership Franklin, and create an ongoing award that identifies a leader in our community who exemplifies the values and lessons of Leadership Franklin.
Magid has served Franklin and Williamson as an active community volunteer for several years. She is currently a board member for The Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County, Franklin Theatre, and is vice president of Williamson Animal Services, Inc.
She has been an advisory board member for organizations including Harpeth River Watershed Association, Franklin Housing Authority and Walden’s Puddle. Magid, a past recipient of Franklin Tomorrow’s Spirit Award, serves on Franklin Mayor’s Commission on Affordable Workforce Housing, Animal Control Task Force and Battle Ground Academy.
She also is involved with Elephant Sanctuary, Frist Center for the Arts, Cheekwood, Franklin’s Charge, Friends of Harlinsdale, Williamson County Historical Society, Save the Franklin Battlefield, Studio Tenn, Nashville Public Radio and Television, and Habitat for Humanity.

Jumper joins Sherrard & Roe

Attorney Nicole E. Jumper has joined the law firm of Sherrard & Roe, PLC as an associate in the Corporate practice group.
Prior to joining Sherrard & Roe, Jumper was an associate at Baker Donelson in the securities and corporate governance practice group. Before entering law school, she worked as a paralegal in the intellectual property department at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago.
Jumper earned her J.D. at the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2009. She served as second year editor and student materials editor of the Tennessee Law Review and was on the Dean’s List with high honors. She graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and art history.
Concept Technology adds 3 to Nashville office
IT service provider Concept Technology has hired Benjamin “BJ” Bryant and Alan Russell join as support analysts, and David Tomlin as a network operations center engineer.
Bryant comes to Concept Technology from Bloomington, Indiana, where he most recently worked as an IT support specialist at ForthPhaze Technology. He also previously had an apprenticeship under the former IT director of Employment Plus.
Russell worked for most recently for Asurion as a desktop support analyst, providing support for over 1,000 users. While at Asurion, he managed the launch of new offices in Phoenix and Nashville.
Tomlin has 10 years of IT experience and is rejoining Concept Technology after working the last two years as a Windows systems administrator at HP Enterprise Services.
FirstBank hires VP for training, development

FirstBank is pleased to announce Alice Finn as vice president of training and development. In this position, Finn is responsible for the effective development, coordination and presentation of training and leadership development programs for all associates.
Prior to joining FirstBank, Finn owned a training consulting firm that provided custom training to banks and credit unions across the country from New England to Hawaii. Her areas of emphasis include sales and service, leadership and lending, and she has designed training for community, mid-size and top 10 banks.
Before starting her consulting practice in 2000, she was vice president and sales program manager for First American National Bank in Nashville, responsible for retail goal setting, merger integration training, and licensing and training of branch investment representatives.
She also spent six years with National Bank of Commerce and NCBS as Director of Training where she was responsible for the development and implementation of training and programs used by over 100 financial institutions.
Fifth Third Bank hires leader for Donelson

Claude Whatley has joined Fifth Third Bank as assistant vice president and financial center manager for the Donelson banking center.
He was previously employed at U.S. Bank in the Nolensville market.
Whatley has more than 20 years of experience in the financial and banking industry and earned his bachelor’s in business administration from Tennessee State University.
VU student honored by Boys & Girls Clubs
Lynch
Boys & Girls Clubs of America has named Natalia Lynch the 2014 Military Youth of the Year. A member of Wiesbaden Youth Center in Wiesbaden, Germany, Lynch will receive a $20,000 scholarship and serve as BGCA’s official youth advocate for military teens across the country and abroad.
To earn the honor, club youth who are served on military installations advance through local, state and regional competitions-demonstrating how they have achieved academic success, and made outstanding contributions to their family, school, community and BGCA-affiliated Youth Center, while overcoming personal obstacles.
Lynch was an active member of the Wiesbaden Youth Center, participating in and promoting a variety of artistic and cultural opportunities that are regularly offered through the club. She also has performed multiples times at Carnegie Hall with the Milal Missionary Choir and Orchestra.
She is a freshman at Vanderbilt and plans to pursue a graduate degree in speech language pathology.
Chapman joins Zehnder Communications

Zehnder Communications has hired Huntley Chapman as travel and logistics assistant. She acts as a support system to the Brand Activation department.
Previously, Chapman served as intern for Carnival Music in Nashville. She earned an art history degree with a minor in archaeology from the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C.
TECA names Perkerson gov’t affairs specialist

The Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association, a trade group representing the interests of electric cooperative members across the state, has hired Alex Perkerson as government affairs specialist. In this role, Perkerson will assist with the association’s legislative and grassroots efforts.
A 2011 graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in political science, Perkerson previously worked as a legislative assistant at the Tennessee General Assembly.
TriStar Summit welcomes interventional cardiologist

Interventional Cardiologist Evan Russell, M.D., has recently joined the medical staff at TriStar Summit Medical Center.
Russell earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland. He completed both his cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
