Stanley

Dretler is responsible for client service, investment management and new business development in the Nashville office. Prior to joining the firm, Dretler spent 15 years career with financial services firms in New York City, most recently as a senior trader with Ziff Brothers Investments, where he traded global equities for a multi-billion dollar long/short equity platform.

Williams

Stanley will focus primarily on the company’s private equity strategies. Prior to joining the firm, Stanley spent 8 years in the United States Navy as an intelligence officer, most recently serving with Joint Special Operations Command in Ft. Bragg, NC.

Williams is responsible for client service, investment management and new business development in the Nashville office, with an emphasis on financial planning and advisory services. Prior to joining the firm, Williams was a financial advisor with the Pruett Group, a division of Northwestern Mutual in Nashville.

2014 Emerging Leader Awards winners named

The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and YP Nashville have announced the winners of the 2014 Nashville Emerging Leader Awards.

In an effort to highlight the contributions of young professionals in the Nashville area, 15 winners have been recognized for their accomplishments, leadership and community-service. Winners are:

Architecture, Engineering & Construction: Alan Hayes, senior associate, Thomas, Miller & Partners, PLLC. Hayes is a project architect with a focus on health care and medical office projects.

Arts, Entertainment & Music: Jeff Syracuse, manager/licensing operations, Broadcast Music, Inc.

Syracuse assists in developing new e-commerce applications and provides user support for continued enhancement of system efficiency. He has been with BMI for more than 15 years.

Business Services: Kevin Mahoney, budget director, Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. Mahoney is responsible for preparation and administration of a $387 million annual budget. Previously, he has served as an accountant for multiple state agencies as well as a financial analyst for Saint Thomas Health.

Community Service & Nonprofit: Eric Pittel, administrative manager, Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He provides budgetary oversight of all Type I Diabetes TrailNet events and programs, including the Vanderbilt Affiliate Network.

Education: Jennifer Berry, academy coach, Stratford STEM Magnet High School. Berry serves as a liaison between faculty and business partners to support the Stratford STEM Magnet School’s learning community.

Environment & Sustainability: Miranda Christy, attorney, Stites & Harbison PLLC. Christy represents a wide range of conservation transactions, including conservation easements and battlefield preservations. She provided legal counsel for the Land Trust for Tennessee and The Nature Conservancy.

Financial Services: John Crosslin, managing audit principal, Crosslin & Associates, PC. During his tenure, he has contributed to growing the business by more than 325 percent and helped the firm triple in size.

Government and Public Affairs: Emily Mitchell, senior community and economic development manager, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Nashville Branch. Mitchell represents Middle and Eastern Tennessee, working with banks, nonprofits and government agencies to develop programs that promote asset building, affordable housing, small business, job creation and other community development initiatives.

Hospitality & Tourism: Jeni Lind Brinkman, regional director for external affairs, Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. Brinkman is responsible for outreach to department stakeholders, including local and other government agencies, the regulated community, public interest groups and citizens.

Human Resources: Jessika Leigh Poirier, partner, recruiter and business development, Vaco, LLC. Poirier was promoted to partner this year and recognized for being the No. 2 producer nationwide in the staff division.

Legal Services: Mary Taylor Gallagher, mMember, Gullett Sanford Robinson & Martin, PLLC. In addition to general business litigation, Gallagher focuses her practice on defending employers in the railroad, transportation and health care industries.

Medical & Health Care Services: Dr. Carmen B. April, owner and podiatrist, The Foot and Ankle Healthcare Center, PC. April specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of foot and ankle disorders. She started her medical practice, The Foot And Ankle Healthcare Center, at only 30 years old and grew the patient base from 0 to 800 new patients in her first 16 months in practice.

PR, Advertising & Marketing: Kearstin Patterson, director of communications and design, HCA. Patterson leads a team responsible for the strategic direction and delivery of internal and external communications for IT&S, HCA’s largest corporate division.

Real Estate Services: Alexander Brandau IV, owner, Alexander Brandau Real Estate Partners at Keller Williams Realty. Brandau has won the Gold Award of Excellence four times and has served as a chair for many committees.

Technology: Jeff Ker, director of programs, ForceX, Inc. Ker provides program vision and strategic direction for program management across three Department of Defense programs valued at $11.2 million.

Burns elected chair of TBA’s Tax Law Section

Dickinson Wright, a full-service Nashville law firm with national and international offices, announced today that attorney John Burns has been elected chair of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Tax Law Section.

Burns concentrates his practice in tax law and earned a Masters of Law in taxation from the University of Florida. He routinely counsels businesses and individual clients through federal, state, local and foreign tax issues, incentives and controversies.

Burns has been a member of the Tennessee Bar Association for 24 years and a member of its Tax Law Section for 14 years. He is also a member of the State and Local Tax Executive Committee of the American Bar Association.

There are two new appointments of LHC committee chairmen. Will Howorth, director, development and special assets, HCA, will lead the Education and Events Committee, and Kearstin Patterson, director, communications and design, HCA, will chair the Membership and Marketing Committee. Howorth has also been renewed to the board for an additional three-year term.

Dietrich joins Fisher Brown Bottrell

Fisher Brown Bottrell Insurance, Inc., one of the largest bank-owned agencies in the U.S., has hired Mark Dietrich as business insurance consultant.

Dietrich will operate out of the firm’s Nashville branch, which opened as Fisher Brown Bottrell’s first Tennessee outpost in 2014. He will provide middle market companies with customized solutions and value-added services.

Prior to joining Fisher Brown Bottrell, Dietrich served as account manager for Resource-Logix, a medical device sales startup, where he was responsible for sales in Tennessee and Kentucky.

GS&H promotes 3, adds 3 employees

Randall

GS&F continues to grow with the addition of three new employees as well as the elevation of three employees in the account management and public relations teams.

Ramirez

Christy Randall joins GS&F as a strategic planner. She previously worked with comScore, Inc., and the Martin Agency.

Woods

GS&F’s creative group has expanded with the addition of art director Paige Thompson, who joins the agency from SapientNitro. The public relations team has added Alyssa Ramirez, who will serve as an account coordinator.

Pate

Promotions include Austin Goins-McCree to an account supervisor and Stephen McAllister to an account executive. For the public relations team, Caroline Mauldin was transitioned to an account coordinator position.

Pinnacle Financial hires Woods, Pate

Jim Woods and Penny Pate have joined Pinnacle Financial Partners.

Woods, with 28 years of financial services experience, is a vice president and underwriter for Pinnacle’s automotive finance group.

He comes most recently from J.P. Morgan Chase, where he was a credit underwriter.

Previous roles were with Fifth Third Bank, where he was a relationship manager in its commercial lending division, Ford Credit/PRIMUS Financial Services, where he was dealer account manager/business development manager, and Toyota Motor Credit Corporation, where he served as a customer account representative.

Pate brings 33 years of experience to her role of service specialist.

She comes most recently from F&M Bank in Lebanon, where she was a head teller.

Pate also worked for MidSouth Bank in Murfreesboro and SunTrust Bank in Nashville.
