NASHVILLE (AP) - A Tennessee jewelry store is being sued after a customer accused them of selling diamonds for more than the jewels are worth.

Nashville resident James Wells filed the case Tuesday against Genesis Diamonds claiming the store committed fraud and violated the state's consumer protection law by allegedly using "bogus certifications and appraisals" to sell diamonds.

The Tennessean reported (http://tnne.ws/1nAOKYN) that Wells bought a ring at Genesis Diamonds priced at $27.500 and later had the diamond independently appraised at $16,000.

The lawsuit was filed less than a month after Genesis Diamonds dropped a defamation suit against Village Jewelers that accused the Hillsboro Village jewelry store of defaming the jewelry store and its owner with similar accusations.
