Urgent Team appoints chief financial officer

Mauldin

Urgent Team, an independent operators of urgent care centers in the Southeast, has named Michael Mauldin as the new chief financial officer.

Most recently, Mauldin was chairman and CEO of Specialty Care, a global provider of specialized outsourced clinical services to hospital surgical suites. Previously he served as: CFO for DSI, a leading dialysis provider, CFO for MedTel International, a multi-national provider of diagnostic imaging, senior VP of operations finance for Renal Care Group, a dialysis company, and CFO for Saint Thomas Hospital.

He also is an adjunct finance and health care professor at Belmont University.

Mauldin will be leading the financial functions of Urgent Team, as well as providing expertise to the acquisition process, strategy formulation and operations.

Corsair names Clodfelter head distiller for Nashville

Clodfelter

Corsair Distillery has named Andrea Clodfelter its head distiller and distillery manager of its Nashville operations.

Clodfelter, a home brewer for several years, took an unorthodox route to her position, seeking a job at Corsair after reading about the company in a magazine article and deciding she wanted to become a distiller.

She started as a bartender and worked her way up to brewing assistant, junior distiller and distiller. Clodfelter was trained at the Siebel Brewing Institute.

Corsair has won “Craft Distillery of the Year” awards from the American Distilling Institute, Whisky Magazine and the Wizards of Whisky competition. The distillery has won a number of other notable awards, including two “Innovator of the Year” awards from Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky awards. Corsair’s triple smoke whiskey won “Artisan Whiskey of the Year” for Whisky Advocate Magazine.

Fifth Third welcomes wealth management advisor

Dunston

Brian Dunston has joined Fifth Third’s private banking team as vice president and wealth management advisor.

Dunston comes to Fifth Third from HMS Capital Management, where he most recently served as director of client services. He has 22 years of experience in private wealth management and capital markets, and is a graduate of Arkansas State University.

Bone McAllester Norton adds attorney to roster

Floyd

The law firm of Bone McAllester Norton PLLC has hired attorney Mandy Strickland Floyd.

Floyd served as the senior judicial clerk for the Honorable Richard H. Dinkins on the Tennessee Court of Appeals. She focuses her practice in litigation and dispute resolution, intellectual property and labor and employment law. She is the firm’s 39th attorney.

Prior to pursuing a legal career, Floyd became a certified chocolatier and started her own business, an artisan chocolate company in Franklin.

She received her J.D. from The University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University.

Hastings Architecture hires director of planning

Hastings Architecture Associates, LLC has added Joni Priest to its staff as director of planning.

The planning veteran comes to the firm after eight years with Metropolitan Nashville Planning Department, where her leadership facilitated the revitalization of some of the city’s major corridors and neighborhoods. Priest will now apply her public sector experience to guide Hastings Architecture’s clients through the planning and development process.

While at Metro Planning, Priest’s planning and zoning efforts supported the revitalization of several Nashville neighborhoods, including downtown, West End Park and Lenox Village. She also authored and managed Nashville’s Downtown Code, an accomplishment that has been instrumental in the growth of the city’s urban core.

Priest earned her undergraduate degree in architecture and her master of architecture from Judson University in Elgin, Ill.

Compass EMP Funds taps Graffy to lead Distribution

Compass EMP Funds has hired Paul D. Graffy as president, sales and distribution, with the responsibility for leading a team of 24 individuals across both the internal advisor servicing team and the external sales organization.

He also will oversee all strategic relationships with broker-dealers, large financial institutions and key intermediaries.

Graffy has 30 years of investment industry experiences and recently served in executive and sales leadership roles with MFS Mutual Funds and John Hancock Investments. He holds a BA in Economics with additional studies and designations received from The Wharton School of Business and the Rotman School of Business (University of Toronto).

Boone joins Pinnacle as senior vice president

Kim A. Boone has joined Pinnacle Financial Partners as a senior vice president and trust services advisor. She is based at Pinnacle’s Financial Center in Murfreesboro.

Boone has 30 years of financial services experience, spending the last 12 years at First Farmers and Merchants Bank in Columbia. She served as a senior personal trust officer in her most recent role.

Boone is a Certified Financial Planner® practitioner and a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA). She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from Mississippi College. She is also a graduate of the Southern Trust School.

DVL promotes Kerensky, Warren

DVL Public Relations & Advertising has announced the promotions of Lauren Kerensky and Rebecca Warren.

Kerensky, who joined DVL in January 2012, has been promoted from account executive to senior account executive. Her areas of focus include media relations, event management and content development. Kerensky works with clients in the food and beverage, retail and health care industries.

Warren

Warren has also been promoted to senior account executive. Since joining DVL in June 2013 as an account executive, she has worked with clients in the health care, financial services and automotive industries. Warren specializes in media relations, crisis communications and project management.

Dental association honors Murfreesboro’s Thompson

The Academy of General Dentistry has honored William R. “Roy” Thompson, DDS, MAGD, of Murfreesboro, with the organization’s Humanitarian Award.

The award honors an individual who engages in voluntary service and who demonstrates consistent commitment to enhancing the image of general dentistry through quality dental care and civic leadership. Only 16 of the AGD’s 38,000 members have received this award since its inception in 1982.

In 2009, Thompson joined the board of Nashville’s Interfaith Dental Clinic, which delivers low-cost, comprehensive dental care to low-income and uninsured individuals in middle Tennessee. During his tenure on the board, he has been instrumental in raising more than $1.5 million and establishing a satellite location in Rutherford County. He currently is the clinic’s board chairman.

Thompson graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1978 and has practiced general dentistry in Murfreesboro since that time.

He teaches for a local dental assisting program, and his office has been a site for the program’s clinical rotations for more than 15 years. He also is one of the primary legislative advocates for dentistry in Tennessee.

Thompson has served both the AGD and the American Dental Association on the local, state, and national levels. He is a past president of both the Tennessee AGD and the Tennessee Dental Association (TDA), and he served as the liaison between the TDA and the Tennessee Board of Dentistry for four years.

Regions hires VP, SBA product specialist

Rhodes

Regions has announced the hiring of Lane Rhodes to the position of vice president and SBA product specialist for Nashville and Middle Tennessee.

In this role, Rhodes will partner with small businesses to help choose the best loan for their growing business, and implement solutions based on a comprehensive understanding of their goals and vision.

A 15-year banking veteran, Rhodes was previously vice president of SBA Lending for Wells Fargo, vice president and SBA lending officer for Fifth Third Bank and regional account manager/SBA and USDA lender for CIT.

Rhodes earned her degree in business administration at Belmont University.

Chief Justice Wade receives TBA honor

Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice Gary R. Wade has been honored with the Tennessee Bar Association’s Justice Frank F. Drowota III Outstanding Judicial Service Award for his “outstanding and dedicated service to the courts and the legal community.”

Wade was recognized for his service, not just on the Tennessee Supreme Court and Court of Criminal Appeals, but also in local government and nonprofit endeavors.

Prior to appointment to the courts, Wade served as mayor of the city of Sevierville for 10 years and served for 14 years as city attorney for the city of Pigeon Forge.

The Drowota Award is given to a judge or judicial branch official of a federal, state or local court in Tennessee who has demonstrated extraordinary devotion and dedication to the improvement of the law, the legal system and the administration of justice as exemplified by the career of former Supreme Court Justice Frank F. Drowota III – the award’s first recipient.

Wade has served on the state Supreme Court since 2006. He was named chief justice of the court in 2012.

Prior to his appointment to the court, he was the presiding judge of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals and spent eight years as managing partner of Ogle, Wade & Wynn in Sevier County. Wade earned his undergraduate and law degree from the University of Tennessee.

MTSU names assistant director of annual giving

Murphy

Trisha Murphy has been named assistant director of annual giving at Middle Tennessee State University. Murphy, who served in an interim role for one year, graduated from MTSU with a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s in education administration and supervision.
