Vanderbilt holding CWS title celebration on campus
NASHVILLE (AP) - Vanderbilt will be celebrating its College World Series title during a Thursday night event on campus at the school's soccer/lacrosse stadium.
The team is scheduled to return to campus at around 1:30 p.m. CDT in front of the McGugin Center. The victory celebration featuring Vanderbilt coach Tim Corbin and the team will take place at 6 p.m.
Admission is free. Fans will have the opportunity to get autographs and take pictures of the championship trophy. Championship merchandise will be available for purchase.
Vanderbilt clinched its first national title in a men's team sport Wednesday by defeating Virginia 3-2 in the decisive third game of the College World Series championship series. Vanderbilt's only previous national team title was a women's bowling championship in 2007.
