TSU president gets award from accounting group

NASHVILLE (AP) — Tennessee State University President Glenda Glover has been honored by the National Association of Black Accountants.

She recently received the group's 2014 National Achievement in Education Award, which is presented to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the accounting profession.

Glover is a certified public accountant and attorney. She is also one of two African-American women in the nation to hold the Ph.D.-CPA-JD combination.

NABA has more than 8,000 members nationwide.

Through its efforts and other interested groups, there are more than 200,000 African-Americans participating in the field of accounting, of which over 5,000 are certified public accountants.
