Perry

John M. Perry, Jr. has joined Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP as a partner in the Health Care Practice Group. Perry had been working from the firm’s Birmingham office since rejoining the firm in January 2014. He began his legal career in the Birmingham office as an associate in 1997.

Perry has more than 14 years of experience advising and representing not-for-profit integrated health systems, health care providers and physician practices.

Prior to joining Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, Perry was a partner with Edmunds & Williams, P.C., in Lynchburg, Va.

Perry is a Vanderbilt graduate and earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

VUMC’s Raiford named Health System chief of staff

David Raiford, M.D., associate vice chancellor for Health Affairs, senior associate dean for Faculty Affairs, professor of Medicine and Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s chief compliance officer, has been named chief of staff for the Vanderbilt Health System. His appointment becomes effective July 1.

Raiford will report to C. Wright Pinson, MBA, M.D., deputy vice chancellor for Health Affairs and CEO of the Vanderbilt Health System, and will assist with administrative, clinical and programmatic leadership responsibilities across all of VUMC’s hospitals and clinics.

Raiford will continue in his role as senior associate dean for Faculty Affairs; however, during this transition he will relinquish his responsibilities as the Medical Center’s chief compliance officer.

In his new role, Raiford will be responsible for patient and physician advocacy and day-to-day inpatient operations of the medical practice at VUMC.

Raiford is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He came to Vanderbilt in 1991 to help found and lead an interdisciplinary program in liver diseases.

Branstetter moves to Sherrard & Roe as partner

C. Dewey Branstetter Jr. has joined the law firm of Sherrard & Roe, PLC as a partner.

A Nashville native, Branstetter has maintained a litigation and transactional practice representing a wide range of entities and individuals for more than 30 years. He currently concentrates on utility and municipal issues, employment matters and complex litigation.

Before joining Sherrard & Roe, Branstetter served as managing member of Branstetter, Stranch & Jennings, PLLC, which was founded by his father, the late Cecil D. Branstetter.

Branstetter served as an elected member of the Metro Board of Public Education for 11 years, acting as chairman for three. He has served on the boards of numerous other organizations such as Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, Center for Nonprofit Management, Nashville Alliance for Public Education, and Harding Academy. He is currently Chairman of the Metropolitan Charter Revision Commission and First Vice President of the Nashville Bar Association.

Moses is president-elect of marital lawyers group

Marlene Eskind Moses, a family law specialist and founding manager of MTR Family Law, PLLC, has been elected president-elect of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers USA Chapter.

IAML is a worldwide association of practicing lawyers who are recognized by their peers as the most experienced and expert family law specialists in their respective countries; membership is by invitation.

Moses is a past-president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and was named the organization’s Outstanding Fellow of the Year. She is a fellow of the Tennessee Bar Association Foundation and the Nashville Bar Association Foundation. She is a diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers and serves on its executive committee.

She is a past president of the Tennessee Supreme Court Historical Society, the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners and Lawyers Association for Women, as well as former vice president of the Nashville Bar Association.

Peluso joins Regions as sr. VP, trust advisor

Regions has announced the hiring of Stephen Peluso, Esq., LL.M., CFP, to the position of senior vice president and trust advisor for Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Peluso brings more than 22 years of financial and wealth planning experience to his new role with the bank.

Prior to joining Regions, Peluso was a wealth strategist at Raymond James Financial, as well as managing director/wealth management specialist at Morgan Keegan & Company, where he provided financial and wealth planning services to high net worth families, corporate executives, business owners, entertainers and professional athletes.

He also worked as a tax attorney in private practice as a partner at King & Ballow and as a tax associate at Boult, Cummings, Connors and Berry. His career also includes a stint with the New York City Police (Transit) Department, where he attended the NYC Police Academy, and was later assigned to patrol in and around the subways of Manhattan and the Bronx.

Chestnut to lead VUMC Obstetric Anesthesiology

Vanderbilt’s David Chestnut, M.D., has been named chief of the Division of Obstetric Anesthesiology.

Chestnut comes to Vanderbilt from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where he served as professor of Anesthesiology and associate dean of the Western Academic Campus. He also served as the Edwin L. Overholt Director of Medical Education for the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis.

He is an international leader in obstetric anesthesiology. Most notably, he is the senior editor of Chestnut’s Obstetric Anesthesia: Principles and Practice, which is regarded as the principal textbook of the specialty.

Chestnut has served as president of the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP) and as the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ liaison to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

For 12 years, Chestnut served as a director of the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), and subsequently, for the past five years, has served as executive director for Professional Affairs for the ABA. He also served for 12 years on the editorial board for the journal Anesthesiology and for 11 years he was editor-in-chief of the Year Book of Anesthesiology and Pain Management. The fifth edition of Chestnut’s Obstetric Anesthesia: Principles and Practice will be published this month.

Heritage Foundation adds president, board members

The Heritage Foundation of Franklin & Williamson County has added seven members to its board of directors, including Julian Bibb III of Franklin, who has been elected to serve a three-year term as the Foundation’s president.

Other officers for 2014-15 year are Joe Walker, vice president of finance; Angela Calhoun, secretary; Fred Reynolds, vice president of preservation; Connie Haley, vice president of member development; Andy Marshall, vice president of the Franklin Theatre; Bob Roethemeyer, vice president of the Main Street Program (elected by the Downtown Franklin Association); Philip Dial, vice president of the Next Generation Heritage Foundation (elected by Next Gen).

Sean Carroll, Pam Chandler, Josh Denton, Emily Magid, Craig Holland and Donna Douglas were also named as new board members. Gernert joins Butler Snow Advisory Services

Rick Gernert has joined Butler Snow Advisory Services as principal in the firm’s Nashville office. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry to the position.

Gernert most recently served as a founding shareholder of Iroquois Capital Group and managing director in its Investment Banking Group, as well as president of Iroquois Capital Advisors.

Gernert has experience working with early-stage venture capital entities and has been an advisor to institutional investors and high net worth individuals. Prior to his work at Iroquois Capital Group, he was a managing director of Koch Ventures, a $150 million early-stage venture capital entity. He also has held the position of vice president of business development at EDS Corporation in Dallas.

Benchmark Realty adds 4 team members

Bart Smith, Julie Seiber, Jeremy Enders and Steve Blair have joined Benchmark Realty.

Smith, a Huntsville native, was a national award winning graphic designer and marketing consultant prior to his work in real estate. He has lived in the Nashville area for more than seven years and earned a bachelors in art from Lipscomb University.

Originally from Missouri, Seiber moved to Smyrna in 1998 where she began her work in the travel industry, which she continues to do fulltime today along with her work in real estate.

Enders has worked in home construction since 1996 as an independent contractor. He has lived in the Nashville area for over 19 years.

Blair worked in the sales and marketing side of the music business prior to his work in real estate.

Ingram taps McDonald for leadership post

Ingram Industries Inc. has promoted Vice President and Deputy General Counsel Eleanor McDonald to executive vice president, general counsel and secretary.

McDonald joined Ingram in 2006 as assistant general counsel, coming from a private law practice in Nashville concentrating in mergers and acquisitions, commercial finance transactions and general corporate matters.

She will succeed Bill Morelli, who will retire after 22 years with the company. Morelli joined Ingram Barge Company in 1991 as general counsel and progressed over the next several years in various executive positions at the Barge Company until he was named vice president and general counsel of the parent company, Ingram Industries Inc. in 1996. In 2003. he was named executive vice president, general counsel and secretary.

McDonald earned her juris doctor degree from Vanderbilt University Law School and earned a degree in political science from the University of Alabama.
