Four Stites & Harbison, PLLC attorneys have been recognized by Managing Intellectual Property magazine as 2014 “IP Stars.” The star attorneys are nominated by their peers and in-house counsel.

The attorneys are: William Charles Ferrell, Jr., Alexandra MacKay, James “Randy” Michels and Richard S. Myers, Jr.

Ferrell is a registered U.S. patent attorney and his practice primarily focuses on patent litigation.

MacKay counsels clients in IP litigation and transactional matters and assists clients with the selection, adoption and registration of their trademarks and copyrights.

Michels is a patent litigator and has litigated cases covering a board range of technologies in multiple federal courts.

Myers is a registered U.S. patent attorney and focuses on life sciences technology and a variety of chemical and pharmaceutical arts.

Inclusion on the “IP Stars” list is based on surveys and interviews conducted by the magazine and can be found in the World IP Handbook and Survey published by Managing Intellectual Property.

Dickinson Wright attorney honored for pro bono work

During its Impact Awards annual gala, the TriState Minority Supplier Development Council (TSMSDC) honored Kim Stagg, an attorney in the Nashville office of Dickinson Wright, with the organization’s 2014 Impact of the Year award.

Each year, the award pays tribute to an individual who, through personal leadership and commitment, has made extraordinary contributions to the TSMSDC.

A member of the TSMSDC board since 2011, Stagg provided more than 60 hours of pro bono work on behalf of Dickinson Wright over the past year to help guide the consolidation of the organization’s Tennessee council and Kentucky and West Virginia council into its current TriState entity.

Stagg also presented a $1,000 scholarship on behalf of Dickinson Wright to a promising high school senior.

Tuck Hinton Architects selects associate partner

Hughes

Josh Hughes, AIA, has been named associate partner at Tuck Hinton Architects.

Hughes joined Tuck Hinton in 2006 and has worked on a variety of projects, including the Music City Center, Nashville Songwriters’ Hall of Fame, Southern Steak & Oyster and several projects at Lipscomb University.

He earned his degree in architecture from the University of Kentucky in 2006 and is scheduled to complete the executive MBA program at Vanderbilt in 2015.

TSU chair wins pair of Edward R. Murrow Awards

Terry Likes, chair of Tennessee State University’s Department of Communications and professor of multimedia journalism, has won two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in electronic journalism.

Likes

Likes won the awards in two separate categories: Audio News Documentary for “In Our Memory, the Soundtrack to News: How News Events Shape Music,” and Audio Sports Reporting for “We Will Rock You: The Branding of Sports Music.”

Both programs aired on the Tennessee Radio Network.

The awards mark the seventh and eighth regional Murrow Award presented to Likes, who was honored in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012 (two). Likes is the recipient of 52 awards during his career including honors from the Broadcast Education association, the Tennessee Associated Press, Kentucky Associated Press, National Broadcasting Society and the National Press Club.

Richards & Richards CEO to lead national group

Richards & Richards CEO Steve Richards has been elected president-elect of the National Association for Information Destruction, the nation’s premier records management organization.

For the last 20 years, NAID has served as the international trade association for companies that provide information destruction services. NAID’s mission is to promote the information destruction industry and the standards and ethics of its member companies.

He previously served as treasurer for the NAID board of directors.

Stoney River names service, hospitality manager

Boling

Stoney River Legendary Steaks has named Rachel M. Boling, 27, as manager of service and hospitality.

Boling joins Stoney River after four years with Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, Inc., where she was most recently general manager of Paris Club Bistro in Chicago. In her new Stoney River post, Boling will be responsible for all service operations, training and hospitality.

Boling will be actively involved in the day to day operations and will be an asset in implementing our high service standards for Stoney River.

Boling is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, where she earned a degree in hospitality management from the Rosen College of Hospitality.

MP&F promotes pair to assistant account executive

Dorman

McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations has promoted Eric Dorman and Danielle Hall to assistant account executives. They previously were staff associates.

Dorman, a native of Detroit, joined MP&F in March 2013. He is a graduate of The King’s College in New York City.

Hall

Hall, a native of Manchester, joined MP&F in February 2013 and provides support for a variety of client teams, including the U.S. Department of Labor’s Job Corps program, CSX Transportation, Kirkland’s and Cantina Laredo. With a flair for organization and strategic communication, she focuses on event planning, blogger outreach and media relations.

Hall graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication with an emphasis in radio and television broadcasting. She also received a master of professional studies degree in strategic leadership from MTSU shortly before coming to MP&F. Hall is a member of local organization 12th & Broad.

Bradford Group hires 2, announces promotion

Stahl

The Bradford Group has hired Amanda Stahl as account executive, Avery Driggers as account associate and promoted Caitlin Varley from account executive to senior account executive.

Driggers

Stahl joins the Bradford Group from The Zimmerman Agency, a Tallahassee, Florida-based public relations firm, where she worked primarily with national consumer brands. Stahl is a Florida State University graduate.

Driggers previously worked for Taste of the South magazine in Birmingham as an assistant editor. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama.

Varley, a Miami University graduate, joined the Bradford Group in February 2013. She previously was employed by the Chicago-based public relations firm Sanderson & Associates.

Habitat for Humanity makes changes to staff

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville has made four staff changes:

Chip Wilson has been promoted to senior vice president of construction. He joined Habitat of Greater Nashville in March 2005 and was most recently construction director.

Robbie Helms has been promoted to construction manager. He joined Habitat of Greater Nashville in June 2010 as a construction supervisor.

Tim Panyard has been promoted to ReStore assistant manager. He joined Habitat of Greater Nashville in April 2013 and was most recently the ReStore floor leader.

Jason Hickok has been promoted to ReStore floor leader. He joined Habitat of Greater Nashville in November 2012 as a sales associate and donation pickup driver.

DSi expands digital forensics team

Electronic discovery company DSi, formerly Document Solutions, Inc., has expanded its roster of employees and services.

Spore

Joe Morelli has been promoted from data processor to digital forensic technician and is cross-training three other team members on forensic data collection. Morelli joins digital forensics analyst Andy Spore on the forensics team, and is currently working to obtain his Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) certification, which certifies computer forensic examiners based on their knowledge and practical examination skills.

Spore holds both CCE and EnCE certifications, the latter of which certifies professionals that have mastered computer investigation methodology, as well as the use of EnCase® software during computer examinations.
