NASHVILLE (AP) — Parents who are worried about their kids when they get behind the wheel of a car can now apply for a free teen driving awareness class taught by Nashville police officers.

The Metro Police Department is currently taking applications for a four-hour class scheduled for Feb. 15. The course is offered to teens ages 14 to 18, and police say kids who live outside Davidson County are welcome to attend.

The class will not offer behind-the-wheel training. Instead, it focuses on distracted driving, impaired driving and overall traffic safety.

Enrollment is limited in the popular class. The department is also offering a March 1 class.
