Woodmont Investment Counsel, LLC has hired Robert Perry as vice president.

Perry is a Nashville native who earned a bachelor’s degree at Columbia University and worked on Wall Street before returning to Nashville to earn an MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management and a law degree from the Vanderbilt University Law School.

His MBA work had a concentration in finance, and his law school experience included clerking for Chief Judge George Paine II of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

Locke moves from Hall to Andrews Agency

Jena Locke has joined The Andrews Agency as an account supervisor. Her client work includes hospitality, real estate and retail accounts

Prior to joining The Andrews Agency, Locke spent nearly five years at Hall Strategies, where she led clients’ strategic planning, media relations, special events and social media efforts.

Locke is a Belmont University graduate with a degree in public relations. She supplemented her college courses with internship experiences at The Onion in Los Angeles, Belmont University’s public relations department and Katcher Vaughn & Bailey Public Relations.

Guttentag to direct Vanderbilt Neonatology

Susan H. Guttentag, M.D., is joining Vanderbilt University Medical Center as director of the Division of Neonatology within the Department of Pediatrics at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Guttentag currently serves as associate professor of pediatrics with the Perleman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She has been a faculty member there and has served at both Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania since 1994. Prior, she served as a staff neonatologist at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan.

Guttentag earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her M.D. from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She served her residency in Pediatrics at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center and underwent fellowship training in the Joint Program in Neonatology at the Children’s Hospital, Boston, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston, and Beth Israel Hospital.

Nashville law firm creates public affairs company

Frost Brown Todd has formed a new public affairs company, CivicPoint, LLC, and hired of Debra Young Maggart, the former chair of the Republican caucus in the Tennessee House of Representatives. She will serve as CivicPoint’s senior vice president.

CivicPoint will provide lobbying, government relations and public affairs services in Frost Brown Todd’s five-state footprint. Maggart will help lead CivicPoint’s government relations services in the firm’s Nashville office. She joins Frost Brown Todd government relations member Tom Lee, who will serve as managing principal of the new company.

Maggart was elected to public office in 2004, and quickly rose to influential leadership throughout Tennessee. She represented District 45 in the 104th through 107th Tennessee General Assemblies (2004-2012), serving as Republican Caucus Chair from 2010-2012. She also served on the House Education, Government Operations, and Judiciary committees.

Lee named to lead VUMC Neurosurgical Anesthesiology

Lorri Lee, M.D., has been named chief of the newly formed Division of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The new division within the Department of Anesthesiology was created in response to steadily increasing patient numbers in the area of neurosurgery, as well as new innovations that have led to increasing types of neurosurgical procedures offered at VUMC.

Lee is an expert on perioperative vision loss following non-ocular surgeries, and is the director of the national Postoperative Visual Loss Registry, established by the American Society of Anesthesiologists in 1999.

Lee was previously a professor of Anesthesiology and Neurological Surgery (adjunct) at University of Washington, Seattle.

Allard, Baldwin promoted at Bass, Berry & Sims PLC

Bass, Berry & Sims PLC has promoted Martha B. Allard and Russell S. Baldwin to counsel status.

Allard joined Bass, Berry & Sims in 2012 as a contract attorney in the Intellectual Property and Technology Practice with more than 10 years of experience in counseling clients in all aspects of intellectual property law, including trademark selection, prosecution and enforcement.

She has been involved in various trademark and patent infringement matters in federal court, and has represented clients in inter partes proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims PLC, Allard practiced at Waddey & Patterson, P.C., an intellectual property law boutique firm in Nashville and prior to that at Cummings & Lockwood, P.C. in Stamford, Connecticut.

Baldwin joined the firm in 2002 as an associate in the litigation department. His practice concentrates on complex business litigation, appellate litigation, and administrative and regulatory proceedings, including government contracting and investigations.

Before joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Baldwin serviced as an assistant Tennessee attorney general, where he represented the state in appellate litigation, legislative affairs, and litigation cases. Baldwin formerly served in the United States Army and is currently a Lieutenant Colonel, Judge Advocate Generals Corps in the Tennessee Air National Guard, where he serves as Command Judge Advocate for the 230th Sustainment Brigade.

Tristar Summit welcomes new physician

Matthew Milligan, M.D., a board certified family medicine physician, has joined the staff at TriStar Summit Medical Center’s Summit Primary Care in Hermitage.

Milligan earned his medical degree from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, Calif. He then completed his residency in family medicine at The University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). In addition, Dr. Milligan is fluent in Spanish.

Laurel McKenzie has joined Pinnacle Financial Partners as a senior vice president and mortgage advisor. She is based at Pinnacle’s downtown Nashville office at Pinnacle at Symphony Place.

McKenzie has 20 years of experience in the mortgage industry, most recently as a mortgage consultant at SunTrust Mortgage. Prior mortgage loan officer roles were with Fifth Third Bank, First Tennessee Bank, Magna Bank and Regions Bank.

Dropout prevention group names Tennessee CEO

Communities In Schools of Tennessee, the local affiliate of the nation’s largest nonprofit dropout-prevention network, has chosen Anne Weber as its CEO.

Weber is the founding president of Serviam Girls Academy in Wilmington, Del., where she successfully raised $1.5 million to open the school and a subsequent $900,000 in annual funds.

KraftCPAs admits new member to firm

Ken Youngstead has became a member in Nashville-based KraftCPAs PLLC. Youngstead, a certified public accountant, has more than 18 years of accounting experience and expertise.

After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Middle Tennessee State University, Youngstead was a manager at an accounting firm in Brentwood for more than 11 years. He then joined Kraft in 2006 as a senior manager in the assurance services department.

2nd Generation Capital hires principal, director

James C. Ward has joined Nashville-based 2nd Generation Capital, LLC, as a principal and director.

A native of Nashville, Ward was most recently employed by Mars, Inc. in its financial management development program, where he gained experience in P&L management, new product launches, business analytics and internal audit.

Ward is an alumnus of Princeton University and the Owen Graduate School of Management.
