NASHVILLE (AP) - There won't be any criminal charges filed after an investigation into automated phone calls in which people were asked about their opinion of Knoxville Republican Sen. Stacey Campfield.

Campfield asked the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to look into the automated phone calls last month after he said he got emails from people who had received up to 30 calls. He said the repeated calls might have violated anti-harassment laws.

The TBI referred the matter to Knox County District Attorney General Randy Nichols because in Tennessee a formal TBI investigation has to be requested by the district attorney general in most cases.

Nichols told the Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/19YvCHn) that he reviewed the matter and found that criminal charges weren't warranted.

The repeated calls were blamed on a computer glitch.
