TSU announces inaugural events for new president
NASHVILLE (AP) - Glenda Baskin Glover, who was named president of Tennessee State University in January, will officially take the oath of office next month at the historically black institution.
Glover said at a news conference Tuesday that the inaugural theme will be "New Century, New Direction for Excellence." TSU was founded in 1912 in Nashville and has about 9,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
Activities begin Oct. 23 with a student-led procession at the president's home followed by a student luncheon. On Oct. 24, activities include the premiere of the movie "From the Rough," based on the career of former TSU coach Catana Starks, first woman to coach a college men's golf team.
Glover's inauguration Oct. 25 begins with an investiture ceremony in the morning and concludes with an inaugural gala at Gaylord Opryland Resort.
