Nashville to adopt perpetual school calendar

Print | Front Page | Email this story

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Metro Nashville school board still hasn't adopted a calendar for the next school year, but members did agree to stop the yearly wrangling over one.

Saying adopting a calendar each year is a stress nobody needs, the board handed the staff a new mission — develop a perpetual school class calendar.

The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/16PGUMP) reported the board told Superintendent Jesse Register it wanted school to begin no earlier than the first Wednesday in August. High school final exams must be finished before Memorial Day and there must fall and a spring breaks.

The board must approve the final version of the calendar. It would take effect for the 2014-15 academic year.
