NASHVILLE (AP) - Two Tennessee State University professors have generated more than $7 million in grants for the College of Engineering over the past four years.

According to the school, college Dean S. Keith Hargrove and Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Sachin Shetty have secured grants from the National Science Foundation, Boeing and the U.S. Navy. Among others.

Hargrove says the grants support research that broadens students' knowledge and competence, making them more marketable once they graduate.

Shetty's grants include funding for research in cybersecurity and smartphone security, and the development of visualization software for engineering education.

Hargrove's grants include funding for research in advanced battery technologies and to support the professional development of teachers.
