Nissan plant worker killed in auto assembly area
SMYRNA (AP) - A maintenance technician has been killed at the Nissan auto assembly plant in Smyrna.
A company spokesman confirmed the death of 43-year-old Michael Hooper.
WSMV-TV (http://bit.ly/12Pu6uO) reported Nissan spokesman Justin Saia said Hooper's death on Sunday occurred in the body assembly section of the plant. Saia said he could not provide more details until family members had been told.
Saia called the incident heartbreaking and said Hooper had worked at the plant for 21 years.
On April 25, a contract worker was killed at the plant's paint facility when a large electrical panel fell as it was being moved.
