State official warns against air condition scams
NASHVILLE (AP) — The director of Tennessee's Division of Consumer Affairs is asking residents to beware of air condition repair-scam artists this summer.
Gary Cordell says such individuals use the hot temperatures to take advantage of people by charging for unnecessary repair work.
He says to always check the unit's warranty before making any repairs.
He says to also research the company/contractor before agreeing to have work done, and to make sure that the company or contractor lists a physical address.
