Carol Owen has joined Baker Donelson as a shareholder and a member of the firm’s Government Regulatory Actions Group.

Owen will concentrate her practice on complex litigation and operations/risk management. She has key experience in environmental and financial services litigation and has worked with health care companies, manufacturers, financial services providers and waste management companies through complex litigation.

A graduate of the Vanderbilt University School of Law, Owen is a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, serving as vice chair of the Complex Commercial Litigation Institute.

Also, Stephen Hargraves has joined Baker Donelson as an associate and a member of the Securities/Corporate Governance Group and the Corporate/Mergers and Acquisitions Group.

He focuses his practice on representing public and private companies in a variety of capacities, including transactional, corporate governance, securities and hospitality, franchising and distribution matters.

Saint Thomas Hospital names chief nursing officer

Kathy McGee, RN, has been named chief nursing officer of Saint Thomas Hospital. McGee has been serving as interim CNO since October 2012.

McGee has cared for patients at Saint Thomas Hospital for 28 years. Since joining Saint Thomas Hospital as a staff nurse in 1985, McGee has held many other positions within the hospital, including inpatient and outpatient oncology patient care manager, director of medical surgical areas and director of the Outpatient Infusion Center.

In 2008, McGee became the director of nursing for critical care, and in 2011 accepted the role of executive director of cardiac services.

Baskette joins LBMC’s health care practice

Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC has added Andrea Baskette to its Nashville office as a senior consultant within the health care consulting division.

Baskette, CPC, CEMC, CPAR, is an expert in health care organizational documentation coding (ICD-9, ICD-10 and CPT) and revenue cycle management. She is a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders and possesses more than 15 years of experience in the health care field.

The Nashville native earned her certification as a certified patient account representative (CPAR) while studying Health Information Technology. She is certified by the AAPC in professional coding (CPC) and in evaluation and management coding (CEMC).

Sarah Jerman, who has joined the accounting firm in a senior staff accountant position in the Internal Accounting Division. Sarah will be working with businesses and individuals in the Shared Services Division. She has 8 years of accounting experience with Kirkland’s Inc.

Chelsey Childress as a human resources generalist. She previously worked with Child & Family TN, a not-for-profit organization that focuses on strengthening families. In her new role, Childress will be assisting clients with various HR solutions and employee-related matters such as regulatory compliance, benefits administration and personnel management.

Corizon hires new clinical risk management analyst

Corizon, a national provider of correctional health care solutions, has hired Tonya Mooningham, RN, as its clinical risk management analyst (CRMA).

In her new role, effective immediately, Mooningham will lead the evaluations of clinically-related compliance line phone calls and address internal feedback. She will perform chart reviews, participate in Corizon’s sentinel event process and assist in the analysis of professional liability records.

Mooningham joins Corizon with more than six years of experience as director of quality and risk management for Tennessee-area hospitals. She earned an associate degree in nursing from Tennessee State University, followed by a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Middle Tennessee State University.

Diversified Trust hires vice president

Diversified Trust, a southeast-based comprehensive wealth management firm, has hired Jennifer L. Callaway as vice president and trust administration manager.

Callaway will serve as a member of the corporate operations team, working closely with the company’s general counsel and senior fiduciary officer and acting as a resource to each office’s Trust Specialist.

Prior to joining Diversified Trust, Callaway served as vice president and trust officer with Cumberland Trust & Investment Company, where she was responsible for relationship management and account administration. She was previously vice president and trust officer for Independence Trust Company, administering client trust accounts and advising on compliance and corporate matters. Prior to her work in the trust field, she was an attorney with Stewart, Estes & Donnell in Nashville focusing on civil defense litigation.

Fifth Third Private Bank adds senior wealth planner

Kelly Hayes has joined Fifth Third Private Bank as vice president and private banker. She has nine years of private banking experience in the Nashville area, most recently with Regions Bank, working in wealth management and planning.

Also joining the bank is Stephanie Prentice-Cooper, coming aboard as vice president and senior wealth planner for the Tennessee and Georgia affiliates. She comes to Fifth Third from Synovus Securities, where she worked for the past 10 years as a senior financial planner supporting Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina and Georgia markets.

Seigenthaler PR adds seven to team

Seigenthaler Public Relations, Inc. has added seven account services professionals to its Nashville office, including Mark Drury, who has been named vice president of client services

Drury, who has more than 25 years of experience in public policy and corporate communications, leads media relations, crisis communications and government and community relations programs for the firm’s clients in his new role.

Drury comes to the firm from the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency, where he served as the director of communications. Prior to joining MDHA, he was assistant commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic Development. He also has worked for WTVF-TV and served as press secretary for Mayor Phil Bredesen and as communications manager for Dell, Inc.

Barge Waggoner hires chief technology officer

Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon, Inc., announced today that Paul Dougherty has joined the firm as chief technology officer.

As CTO, Dougherty will provide leadership to Barge Waggoner’s IT Department and promote collaboration among all professional disciplines, groups and office locations through a unified technology platform. He brings 34 years of professional experience in information technology with previous employment at Lellyett and Rogers Services and Gresham, Smith and Partners as chief technology officer.

Huizinga to lead VMG quality, patient safety

Mimi Huizinga, M.D., MPH, assistant professor of Medicine, has been appointed to the newly created role of medical director for Vanderbilt Medical Group Adult Quality and Patient Safety.

Huizinga will work with VMG leadership and clinicians to support outpatient clinical quality improvement, with emphasis on ensuring that clinicians have the data and tools they need to achieve the best patient outcomes.

Huizinga also is the new assistant chair for quality in the Department of Medicine. It is anticipated that she also will contribute to quality initiatives within the Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network.

She was formerly assistant professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins and vice president for quality with LifePoint Hospitals, headquartered in Brentwood. At LifePoint, Huizinga was responsible for quality of care oversight for all 54 of the company’s hospitals.

Huizinga earned her M.D. and her master’s in public health from Vanderbilt in 2003 and 2007, respectively.
