Kyle files bill for Grizzlies specialty license plate
NASHVILLE (AP) - Senate Minority Leader Jim Kyle has filed legislation to create a Memphis Grizzlies specialty license plate.
Despite being swept by the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference finals, the Grizzlies enjoyed the franchise's best season.
They went 56-26 and just missed the Southwest Division title by two games to the Spurs. They set franchise marks winning 32 games at home and 24 on the road.
They never played or won as many postseason games as they did this season.
They also extended their postseason sellout streak to 17 games.
The creation of a specialty plate requires legislative approval, as well as 1,000 preorders.
If approved, the plate would support the Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation, which supports youth sports and mentoring programs in Shelby County.
