NASHVILLE (AP) - You're correct. It was a mite chilly when you stepped outside.

Nashville and Jackson set records for the coldest temperatures for May 13 and several other spots were close behind.

The National Weather Service Office in Nashville said the temperature dipped to 39 degrees at dawn, breaking the 1997 record of 41 degrees for the date. In Jackson, which also dropped to 39 degrees, the low was 1 degree less than in 1989.

At least one reporting station dropped below freezing. Up on the Cumberland Plateau, Crossville shivered with 29 degrees and it was 32 degrees in Jamestown.

Sam Roberts at the Morristown NWS office said the Tri-Cities and Knoxville were within a degree of equaling cold records for the date.

Warmer weather is moving in.
