MTSU to get Nobel Prize of alumnus James Buchanan
MURFREESBORO (AP) — The Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences awarded to the late James M. Buchanan is coming to Middle Tennessee State University.
Buchanan graduated from then-Middle Tennessee State Teachers College in 1940.
According to The Daily News Journal (http://on.dnj.com/16YgVrU), Buchanan's family will give his Nobel Prize to MTSU on a perpetual loan basis during a celebration of life event on Thursday.
MTSU President Sidney McPhee says he hopes the medal inspires generations of students at the university.
The event is expected to start at 4 p.m. CDT and will be held on the east side of the campus. It is free to the public.
