Viam Manufacturing expanding in Coffee County

Print | Front Page | Email this story

NASHVILLE (AP) — State officials say a company that makes floor and trunk mats for automobiles is expanding its facility in Manchester, adding 75 jobs in the process.

Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty says the expansion of Viam Manufacturing's facility in Coffee County represents a $9 million investment.

A subsidiary of Japan Vilene Co., Viam has been supplying the automotive industry with custom designed floor, trunk and cargo mats since its incorporation in 1983.

Viam opened its first Tennessee facility in Manchester in 1998. It expanded and moved its North American headquarters to Coffee County in 2008.

Hagerty says Viam's expansion is a testament to Tennessee's position as a national leader in automotive manufacturing.
