Jesse Jackson to deliver TSU commencement speech
NASHVILLE (AP) - The Rev. Jesse Jackson will deliver the spring commencement address at Tennessee State University in Nashville on May 11.
Jackson, founder and president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and an internationally known civil rights leader, is scheduled to speak at the graduation ceremony that will take place outside the newly renovated Hale Stadium.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the 1963 march in Washington, D.C., where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech.
TSU President Glenda Baskin Glover said in a statement that Jackson's message will be extremely powerful as the nation commemorates the anniversary of the historical event.
