Jill Kinch, MSN, APN, advanced practice nurse team manager for Perioperative and Procedural Services at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, has been appointed president of the Tennessee Nurses Association (TNA).

In this position, Kinch will advocate for more than 83,000 registered nurses throughout the state regarding topics such as workplace violence against health care providers and nurse scope of practice legislation.

Kinch is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in both primary and acute care and has practiced in the tertiary care setting for more than 10 years. She leads advanced practice nurses (APNs) in the ambulatory and acute care setting, coordinating delivery of high quality, safe and efficient care.

Kinch founded the Tennessee Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and served as the past president of the chapter. She continues to serve on the executive board and as legislative chair.

She was named VUMC Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year in 2012.

Fifth Third adds Fisk president to board

Fisk University President H. James Williams, Ph.D., C.P.A., J.D., LL.M., is joining Fifth Third Bank’s advisory board. The board consists of eight community and business leaders providing expertise to strengthen the company’s future.

Williams was named the 15th president of Fisk University in February 2013, previously serving as dean of the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. During his career, he has received recognition for his outstanding teaching at Georgetown University, three teacher of the year awards at Florida A&M University and Texas Southern University, and his research work has been widely published.

Williams earned a B.S. degree in accounting from North Carolina Central University, an MBA in accounting from the University of Wisconsin, a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Georgia and J.D. and LL.M. degrees from Georgetown University Law Center. Williams also is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant.

Friends of Radnor Lake announces 2013 board

Young joins Cumberland Region Tomorrow board

Stites & Harbison attorney Gregory T. Young has been elected to the board of Cumberland Region Tomorrow, a citizen-based regional organization working with Greater Nashville Regional Council and others in the public and private sectors, dedicated to planning for the future livability and economic vitality of our 10-county region.

Young is with Stites & Harbison’s Environmental, Natural Resources & Energy Service Group, where his practice focuses on various aspects of environmental law. He regularly represents clients on environmental compliance issues and in permitting, rulemaking and contested case proceedings before environmental agencies, and in state and federal courts.

VU’s Arteaga to lead cancer research group

Carlos Arteaga, M.D., professor of Medicine and Cancer Biology at Vanderbilt, has been elected president-elect of the American Association for Cancer Research for 2013-2014.

Arteaga, who holds the Donna S. Hall Chair in Breast Cancer, also serves as associate director for Clinical Research and director of the Breast Cancer Research Program at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC).

Elected by the organization’s members, Arteaga will work with the AACR board of directors and the 34,000-plus membership to further the AACR’s mission to prevent and cure cancer through research, education, communication and collaboration.

Arteaga’s involvement in the AACR spans more than a decade. He has served as a member of the board of directors, chair of the AACR Special Conferences Committee, member of the Annual Meeting Program Committee, co-chairperson of several special research conferences and as an editorial board member of the AACR journal Molecular Cancer Therapeutics.

Arteaga was also an editorial board member of Clinical Cancer Research from 2001 to 2004 and is currently deputy editor. Since 2008, he has served on behalf of the AACR as co-chair of the annual CTRC–AACR San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium and is a principal investigator on the Stand Up To Cancer Dream Team, “Targeting the PI3K Pathways in Women’s Cancers.”

Bass, Berry & Sims attorney honored

Kathryn Hannen Walker of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC, has been selected to join the 2013 Fellows Class of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.

For the next two years, Walker will participate in this landmark program created by LCLD to identify, train and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession. More than 150 attorneys from around the country will participate in the program, which will provide leadership training and networking opportunities.

Atiba hires VP of development

Atiba Management, LLC has announced the hiring of Marc Spigel as vice president of development. Spigel will handle business development primarily for Atiba.

Prior to joining the Atiba family, Spigel was an integral part of Dell’s corporate sales group, holding various sales & leadership roles for Dell within their middle-market and large enterprise business units. Prior to that, he was communications manager for the Nashville Predators for five years.

Holman joins Centerstone as chief financial officer

Centerstone, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit providers of community-based mental health and addiction services, has named Steven Holman its chief financial officer.

In this newly created position, Holman will direct fiscal operations for Centerstone of America and each of its companies. This will include assessing the organization’s performance, overseeing financial reporting and developing long-term strategies and annual budgets for Centerstone across its operations in Indiana and Tennessee.

A health care industry veteran, Holman brings more than three decades of finance and management experience to Centerstone. He most recently served as CFO at Precedent Health, Inc., a health care company based in Nashville that has worked with providers and payers to build innovative delivery networks to meet the challenges of healthcare reform.

At Precedent, Holman led the organization’s equity and debt financings, directed its acquisitions and developed physician quality reporting programs. Previously, Holman worked at Heritage Health Systems/Universal American Corp., where he was CFO for the Medicare Advantage HMO division with operations in several states.

BOHAN Advertising adds four to staff

BOHAN Advertising has added four employees to its graphic arts and account management teams.

Allison Bohan, previously a marketing coordinator at Quorum Health Resources, is an account executive.

Logan Buerlein, previously designer and marketing director at Jive, has joined as a graphic designer.

Richard Chenoweth has joined the agency as a production artist.

Claire Reynolds, previously a marketing coordinator at Print Media in Bowling Green, Ky., is on staff as a graphic artist.

Nashville Area Chamber adds to recruitment staff

The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce has promoted Jeff Hite to vice president of business recruitment and hired Ben Gatlin as the director of business recruitment.

In his new role, Hite is charged with the development and implementation of economic development recruiting and marketing strategies for relocating businesses.

Gatlin will be accountable for expanding and executing business development and recruitment strategies for the Nashville economic market. He also will lead campaigns to promote the Nashville area as a potential business destination.
