Downtown driver service centers to close for renovations
NASHVILLE (AP) - The state Department of Safety is closing driver services centers in Columbia and downtown Nashville for renovation.
Safety Commissioner Bill Gibbons said in a release Tuesday that the renovations are part of efforts to improve customer service.
The Nashville office, a state Express Station, is located within the William R. Snodgrass Tennessee Tower near the state Capitol. Services offered there include processing duplicate licenses and license renewals only.
It will close on May 3 and is scheduled to reopen a month later.
Thirteen other locations in Davidson and surrounding counties are available in the meantime.
The Columbia location on Hampshire Pike is scheduled to close on April 26 and reopen on May 7.
There are five nearby alternatives in Lawrence, Marshall and Williamson counties that customers are advised to use in the interim.
