Judge at Saddam Hussein trial speaks at TSU
NASHVILLE (AP) — A judge who presided at the trial of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein will speak and take audience questions at Tennessee State University.
Rizgar Mohammed Amin rose to prominence when he was appointed head of a five-judge panel of the Iraqi Special Tribunal, which tried the former Iraqi leader in the killing of 148 Shi'ite men, women and children in 1982.
Amin was the only judge who would appear on camera during the 2005 trial at which the death penalty was imposed upon Saddam Hussein.
He is currently on the Kurdistan Supreme Court and is president of the Kurdistan Region Judges' Union.
His appearance is from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. CDT Tuesday in Poag Auditorium at TSU.
