NASHVILLE (AP) - Two environmental groups have filed suit against a metals recycling facility near downtown Nashville.

The Tennessee Environmental Council and Rediscover East! claim in their U.S. District Court lawsuit that PSC Metals is illegally polluting the Cumberland River by allowing polluted storm water to escape into the stream.

According to The City Paper (http://bit.ly/12nWZNG), the lawsuit points to a 2011 Environmental Protection Agency report that cites PSC Metals for having a "consistent history of polluting the Cumberland River via illicit discharges of process water mixing with stormwater."

The recycling operation is on the east bank of the river, across from the city's country music tourist district, and close to LP Field where the Tennessee Titans play NFL football.

The company's corporate office in Ohio couldn't be reached for comment Thursday.
