Former associates Wendee M. Hilderbrand, Michael J. Holley and Price W. Wilson have been elected to membership in the firm of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC.

Hilderbrand focuses her practice on complex civil litigation and appeals, including corporate and securities, data security and intellectual property cases. In 2011, Hilderbrand earned the Harris A. Gilbert Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award from the Tennessee Bar Association for her pro bono representation of former death row inmate E.J. Harbison. She graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2004 and earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Colorado.

Holley focuses his practice on structuring, negotiating and documenting complex business transactions. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a B.A. in classical studies. He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Mississippi School of Law and his LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law.

Wilson counsels clients on a variety of corporate and securities matters, including corporate governance, Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance, public company disclosure and reporting, and mergers and acquisitions. He earned his B.A. with a double major in history and economics from Vanderbilt University in 2001. He graduated cum laude from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2004.

McInturff, Rush named Steeplechase co-chairs

Dr. Meg Rush, chief of staff at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, and track veterinarian Monty McInturff, have been named 2013 honorary co-chairs of the Iroquois Steeplechase.

Rush began work with the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1990 and has since conducted research, led Vanderbilt’s Neonatal Fellowship Program from 2001 to 2011, and was named chief of staff in 2007. In June 2011, she was also appointed acting chair of the Department of Pediatrics and held this appointment throughout August 2012.

She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and received her bachelor’s degree from DePauw University in 1980.

McInturff’s first veterinarian experience with the Iroquois Steeplechase dates back to 1982 when he, a soon-to-be student at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, assisted track veterinarian Dewitt Owen during the race. He has been a part of the Iroquois ever since and was asked to take over as the Iroquois’ official track veterinarian in 1991.

As track veterinarian, McInturff conducts pre-race veterinarian examinations and remains on call at the grounds to administer emergency care.

He is a Franklin native.

Centennial appoints new pediatric services director

Karen Good, RN, MSN, NE-BC, has been named director of pediatric services for TriStar Centennial Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

Good previously served as manager of the pediatric emergency department and trauma center for Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where she also oversaw the opening of a satellite emergency department.

Prior to that role, Good was the director of clinical services for pediatrics and the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network in Allentown, Penn.

She earned a master’s degrees in nursing and executive administration, as well as her bachelor’s degree in nursing, from the University of South Alabama.

In her new role, Good is overseeing the pediatric medical-surgical unit, PICU and the recently opened Kids Express outpatient services center.

Health Care Council announces first class

The Nashville Health Care Council and former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, M.D., have announced the inaugural class of the Nashville Health Care Council Fellows. These 33 members will begin addressing industry transformation this spring.

The Fellows initiative, announced in early November, engages industry leaders in clearly defining health care’s greatest challenges, and exploring new strategies to meet these issues facing the U.S. health care system today.

Big Machine promotes chief operating officer

Andrew Kautz has been promoted to chief operating officer of The Big Machine Label Group and will continue to oversee all operations of the label, spearheading the company’s financial, legal, administrative and business development processes.

Kautz was one of 13 original employees when Big Machine opened its doors on Music Row in 2005. The company now has a staff of 60.

Before joining Big Machine, Kautz was COO of The Emerald Entertainment Group, where he started as a college intern and escalated through the ranks from 1989 to 2005.

Kautz earned a Music Business degree from Belmont University. He is also an advisory member of the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM).

STARS announces new board members

Purcell, a native of Mount Juliet, joined MP&F in 2012. Since joining MP&F, she has worked with a diverse set of clients, including Fisk University, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Job Corps program, Oak Hill School and Safe Haven Family Shelter. She has focused on collateral materials development and media relations and gained supplementary experience in event support and research.

Former TennCare advisor joins Jackson Hewitt

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, the nation’s second largest tax preparation firm, has hired Brian Haile as the company’s first senior vice president for health policy.

In this newly-created position, Haile will be responsible for the planning and execution of programs and services surrounding the Affordable Care Act and assisting Jackson Hewitt clients in navigating new tax credit programs and insurance exchanges. He will also serve as a liaison with Federal and state agencies.

Prior to joining Jackson Hewitt, Haile served as the director of the Insurance Exchange Planning Initiative of Tennessee, where he worked with the director of the Bureau of TennCare and the commissioner for the Department of Commerce & Insurance to advise the Governor on issues related to federal health reform legislation.

Adams promoted to new role with Skanska

Skanska USA has named Shelby Adams director of communications for Skanska’s Midwest and Texas regions.

Adams, a Nashville native, directs the overall communications strategy for Skanska USA’s Midwest and Texas operations, including offices in Nashville, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Detroit, Cincinnati and Kalamazoo. Her previous title was regional manager of communications.
